Check Out Caprica Collins’ Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caprica Collins.

Hi Caprica, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been artistic. I used to love drawing so much as a kid. As I became older my passion for drawing started to fade. When I became an adult I decided to further my artistic skills with makeup. No matter how horrible my work was on myself I never gave up on it. After getting my first paying client it was at that moment that I knew I wanted to pursue makeup as a career move.

I also knew it would not be easy and that I would have to constantly put in work to achieve success, including but not limited to, watching YouTube videos and doing a lot of research to better my techniques and skills. I practiced every chance I got on family & myself. The more I practiced the better I became, and I’m so thankful to have serviced the clients that I have. My talents have been showcased in weddings, photoshoots, etc. To this day I am still learning new things and techniques. My motto is ‘you can always become better, regardless of how good you may be’. I am forever humble & grateful.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Between supplying myself with the necessary products and building clientele, becoming an entrepreneur is very challenging. Starting off, I had to use what I could afford and make it work, but eventually, I was able to purchase better quality products for more outstanding results. Even though my skillset & products had improved, the progression of my clientele was not as rapid as I’d hoped.

The more I learned how to advertise and market my business, the more clients I started to acquire. Despite the challenges I may endure, I never let them consume me. I always remember to keep my faith in God, because he is the reason why this is possible. My children and my Husband is the second reason that I keep going. With their support along with the support of family and associates, I continue to work hard in my profession.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Makeup Artist that provides beauty services to enhance the natural features of my clients. I strive to create a comfortable environment for my clients where they can relax and be themselves. Customer service is most important to me. I make sure that I’m prompt and prepared for each appointment. I also make sure that I respond to my clients in a timely manner.

I make sure that each client’s needs and wants are met, and that they leave feeling just the way they desired to feel. I am most proud of my growth with my creativity and my will to pursue entrepreneurship. I am proud that I don’t let fear hold me back. I believe what sets me apart from others is my determination to think outside the box and be different.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was very full of life, vibrant, and very goofy. To me, there’s nothing like laughing until you’re crying and gasping for air lol. I’ve also always been a Diva at heart, but at the same time, had tomboyish ways. I would go outside and throw a football with the boys in a heartbeat, but I still loved to play in fingernail polish and dress girly.

A few of my hobbies were playing ball with family & neighbors, drawing, playing video games, and dancing. I guess you can say I just loved being active.
