Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystell Harris.
Hi Crystell, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My entrepreneurial journey began with the establishment of a local bakery, Tempting Berries, where I specialized in crafting custom cakes and treats for various celebrations, including birthdays, graduations, and weddings. Through this venture, I not only delighted the taste buds of my customers but also forged meaningful connections with the community. These connections would prove invaluable as I transitioned into the fields of credit repair and tax preparation.
In my role, I soon realized that my work was helping to bridge the financial gap for many individuals in my community who believed that homeownership was unattainable due to their financial struggles. This realization served as a powerful inspiration for me to pursue a career in real estate. I recognized that I was uniquely positioned to understand and address the specific needs of my community.
With my strong relationships and exceptional negotiation skills, I not only guide my clients through the real estate process but also ensure their preparedness to navigate the challenges along the way. My ultimate goal is to lead them successfully to the closing table, where their dreams of homeownership become a reality.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The perception portrayed on social media may depict an entrepreneur’s life as effortless, with each day beginning positively and a smile adorning their face. However, the reality is far from easy. Being an entrepreneur entails a multitude of responsibilities, requiring the constant juggling of various tasks and wearing multiple hats simultaneously. This challenge is further amplified for me as I manage multiple businesses alongside my real estate portfolio, all while being a mother to four children, including a toddler who is not even two years old yet.
It is important to acknowledge that entrepreneurship demands great effort and dedication. However, I find strength in the belief that each new day is a gift from God, and I wake up with an unwavering drive to better myself and my businesses for the sake of my family. While the journey is undoubtedly challenging, the love and commitment I have for my loved ones motivate me to push forward and strive for success, relying on the grace of God to guide me along the way.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risk-taking is an inherent aspect of our daily lives. Each day, we encounter risks when we place our trust in clients, lenders, inspectors, and various other entities. However, it’s important to note that risk is not necessarily a negative occurrence; it serves as a valuable teacher, instilling in us the virtue of having faith.
As an investor, I face risks daily, but I have implemented robust systems to mitigate the risks associated with all transactions, whether they are personal or business-related. The key to avoiding excessive risk lies in conducting ethical and sound business practices, which increases the likelihood of positive outcomes. I have never been afraid of taking risks because I possess a deep understanding of distinguishing between good risks and bad risks.
