Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimetria Thomas.
Hi Kimetria, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Kimply Consulting & Ko. actually, started in my office while I was still working for my previous employer and on my mom’s birthday. She’s no longer here with us, which makes that moment even more meaningful to me. In my prayer time the Holy Spirit spoke to me about stepping out on faith and start building something to help the barber and beauty industry. The hairstylists would come into my store we would discuss about business strategies, hiring, teams, hair shows, classes, the industry community, retail pricing. or what’s their next, etc.
Several days coming up with a name seemed like forever, but I knew it would have to be meaningful, relatable, memorable, and not limited to any client or services. What began as an idea to help the barber and beauty industry community find direction and structure has grown into a full faith-based consulting company that empowers entrepreneurs to move with clarity, confidence, and consistency.
I’m also a licensed hairstylist for over 20 years just no longer behind the chair, I chose the business side of things. I wanted to get out into the field, meet others in the industry, build relationships with the local industry schools and students, partner with the stores and product brands. By doing so I’ve watched my business evolve into something that really helps others, partnerships, and built more relationships than I can count or remember. They all have been important to me and that’s what keeps me going.
I’ve created several things for the barber and beauty industry students, such as a Mentor Program that will have open enrollment in November and also, an Honorary Student dinner to celebrate students for their academics, attendance, and excellence during their tenure at barber and beauty industry school in the surrounding areas. Hopefully, one day it will be worldwide to celebrate and honor even more students. The students are chosen by their school administration and will get to enjoy one night to dress up, enjoy a lovely dinner (cooked by me), guest speaker(s) and receive gifts sponsored by the partnerships I’ve acquired from the product brands, local supply stores, and donations. They also get a chance to meet students from other schools in the surrounding areas and established barber and beauty industry professionals. Their family and friends are also able to attend as well with a ticket purchase to join in the celebration.
What began as a quite act of faith has become as a purpose driven mission to serve, simplify, and inspire others and build what God placed on my heart and this journey I’m on is Bigger Than Me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it hasn’t, but no complaints and is really anything you want so much and badly is easy. The journey hasn’t been easy – leaving my job took courage, and there were moments I questioned if I made the right decision. But through prayer, fasting, perseverance, family, friends, and God’s guidance. Nothing is impossible!
My husband and three daughters have seen the tears, people I helped walk away or don’t remember that I did. My heart is open, and it always been just to help others be given the opportunity that I wasn’t with no strings attached just all Faith, God, and Purpose. My biggest lesson and challenge are realizing that I can’t help everyone. Especially if they don’t want to receive it, handle it with care, be disciplined, ready to make adjustments to their business or self, or when to know God sends you someone in your life like me. No judgements, just human, and loving!
When God gives a person something the endurance of the strife makes you stronger as a person and you have learned and will know how to handle YOUR NEXT opportunity, trial, etc. I’m very humble and grateful for every obstacle that has come my way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Taking risk has been a big part of my life’s journey. Stepping away a from a secure job to build Kimply Consulting & Ko. was one of the biggest leaps of faith I’ve ever taken. I share my story everywhere I go, to encourage them that we have to start with faith, plan, and trust God. Risk and faith are almost the same thing, taking a risk is doing something different and unsure of, but having faith you stand on God promises seen and unseen. it’s about trusting that obedience will open doors preparation can’t. Every risk I’ve taken has stretched me more into my faith, and taught me resilience, and reminded that my purpose is within me and him no matter how it looks. That my obedience is better than sacrifice and others are at stake for their purpose. Looking back, I’ve learned that playing it safe keeps you comfortable, but you don’t grow. Taking the first step when it’s uncertain, can change everything.
I’m about to take another risk and leap of faith and release my planner – Keeping It Simple With God In It and companion – I’m the Vision In The Room, by mid-November. So, taking risk and having faith never ends until our purpose is complete.
