Conversations with Ashley Stewart

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Stewart.

Hi Ashley, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a child I always loved music. I couldn’t rap nor could I sing but It was always something about music that grasped me. As I got a little older, I got into promoting music artists and parties in high school and then proceeded to college where I would do promo for DJs and some of the college parties and also be able to promote rap artists on the side. I really enjoyed promoting parities and artists, especially artists because as stated as a child I loved music.

Wasn’t an artist but knew I wanted to do something with music. So as time went on in 2013, I decided to continue to do promo and focus solely on the independent artist where I’d promote not only them as an artist but as a brand as a whole. I then figured out I wanted to do music marketing because it gave me the chance to still do something involving music and also be able to show people the talent that I had seen.

From then on out, I continued to do music marketing and wanted to venture into what was called internet radio which is now done as a podcast, etc. with years of building my brand, I continue to do music marketing under my brand name KUietStorHm Entertainment and also decided to continue marketing of artist by creating my own podcast called The Kush Lounge.

I ran into a lot of ups and downs along the road trying to do it on my own but overcame and now I am 9 years in with KUietStorHm Entertainment and continue to use the power of internet marketing to provide the illest platform ever built solely for the Independent Artist to help expand their music.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road.

There were always financial issues not being able to back me with the finances but I did what I had to do to continue to promote myself despite the small resources.

There were times some artists didn’t work with me because I wasn’t a well-known name but I continued to push my brand

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I do music marketing, I am a podcaster that branches off my KUietStorHm Brand. I specialize In helping to market the music artist to provide a platform built solely for the Independent artists to help expand their music abroad. I am most proud of all the artists who stuck with me and believed in me.

For help, artists from other states do cross-promo with one another. That helps the artist potentially perform in other states. I’m proud of launching this podcast that will help continue to market the artist. What sets me apart is I not only use the internet but I still use the old-school method of doing promo and that’s word of mouth, making flyers, making t-shirts and other paraphernalia, making phone promos, etc.

I don’t solely rely on the internet. I not only promote the artist but I focus on the artist’s brand as a whole. These days they don’t do that and I feel it’s still important to focus on the artist’s whole brand so that they may have longevity.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I’ve learned despite the bumps in the road and the hurdles you have to jump you have to keep going. If you stop because you run into a problem it will set you back further than you were when you first started.

I’ve learned that I’m trying to get into an industry that is run predominantly by men and that I have to stand tall so that I may be seen and heard and not faded into the background like some
