Conversations with Jazmon Malone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmon Malone.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Believe it or not my mother made handmade jewelry when I was in high school and college and tried to enlist me to help sell/create. I was totally against it ! I told her I wouldn’t make a good saleswoman and it wasn’t for me. I laugh about it now but I got interested in jewelry making once covid-19 and boredom hit . I found that I was pretty good at it! Since then I just started trying new techniques and try to perfect them as I go. Along the way I’ve developed an interest in creating custom and quality pieces that add the perfect creative touch to any look and I just so happen to really enjoy doing it. Jewelry has evolved to resin pieces, tumblers and even art on canvas . In my book the possibilities are truly endless.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been smooth at all . Any one can string beads, finger-paint and figure out how to pour resin. I wasted tons of money trying to get the epoxy to cooperate and getting the jewelry findings just right. It didn’t take me long to realize that quality materials are important and studying what you enjoy doing DAILY is key. I like to call them learning curves instead of struggles. I’ve learned so much about myself and my capabilities along the way. I’m truly thankful.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create custom jewelry pieces to include earrings, necklaces, elastic and wrap bracelets. I also do resin art, trays, purses, and different custom items.
I love resin art the most most likely because you never know what you might get once everything is settled and cured.
I believe I’m most known for my jewelry creations.
I’m most proud of the different techniques I’ve mastered with resin as well as beading.
What sets me apart Is my willingness to try/master new techniques. I love to try different techniques.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I currently am obsessed with Audible. Any murder mystery and anything by Eric Jerome Dickey I can get my hands on is good with me
