Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Powell.
Hi Alexandra, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It all began when Lexi was a little girl making scrapbooks out of her mom’s old wallpaper sample books on the office floor, while Jennifer was at work on the drafting table. 32 years later, they were still at it, yet lived 7500 miles apart. Jennifer had been a designer for 35 years creating interiors with an eye for craftsmanship and attention to details. Lexi was lead designer for a Product Development Company in Hong Kong with a love for high-quality, aesthetics and design in the details. In 2008, Lexi opened her first Interior Design Studio in Hong Kong. At this time the Mother Daughter duo partnered to create, Alexandra Lauren Interior Design!
Over the years, Jennifer and Alexandra have been honored to work on a wide variety of commercial and residential interior design projects all around the world.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Alexandra Lauren Interior Design Studio was opened in Hong Kong in 2008. Jennifer and Alexandra a Mother Daughter team have had the privilege of working on a wide range of residential, commercial and hospitality projects around the world.
Lexi opened their first storefront in Jackson, Tennessee in 2020 at the height of covid, but that did not slow them down.
Alexandra Lauren Home Collection offers a Lighting and Wallpaper Bar, Custom Upholstery, Window Treatments, Rugs, Accessories, Bed Linens and Furniture for both indoors and out. Their carefully curated collection is open Tuesday-Saturday at 2192 Express Drive, Suite B in Jackson.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
For me Interior Design is all about relationships with people. Every home we design takes a central focus around the lifestyle that takes place over the design layer. No two projects are alike, as we strive to highlight each clients personal taste. We believe that just as you get up and get dressed in the morning, your fashion, and your home should be uniquely reflective of your tastes. We believe that the objects in your home are not just objects, but stories. We believe that family heirlooms bring soul to your home.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Moving to Hong Kong was a risk and became 12 of the best years of my life. Opening an in-store location when stay in place orders were issued during covid was a curve ball. But great risk has proven to have great reward. As a result of covid people were at home thinking about all of their home projects and we were able to thrive. Where you work hard and love what you are doing, you will always be rewarded. The greatest reward comes from happy, delightful thankful clients who love the outcome in their homes.
