Daily Inspiration: Meet Chasity Jenkins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chasity Jenkins.

Hi Chasity, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello! My name is Chasity, Owner/CEO of the brand “Black Gal Luxe Bar”. My mom has done hair since I could remember, along with some of my family members.

Given that, I’ve been around beauticians my whole life, that ignited a natural gift in me because I was always there working on the side. I decided to officially start taking clients after my son (my biggest blessing) was born. I had recently graduated with my Associate in Business and I couldn’t find employment that works with the schedule of my son and me.

Therefore, I decided to reach within and use my God-given talent. It was always a future goal of mine to potentially own a beauty shop, but I didn’t think I would be the person working in it, I just wanted to know all of the business aspects of being an owner.

Apparently, God had other plans, so I began to promote myself via social media and it’s been history ever since. I eventually went to hair school where I obtained a license in natural hair from my Alma Mata The Institute for Natural Hair & Braiding! I am currently practicing to perfect my craft while working on my BBA!!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There have definitely been ups and downs on my road to riches but the biggest downfall was losing my Grandmother on April 29, 2019! This phenomenal lady was literally everything to me and taking that loss forced me to boss up even harder without her presence.

While that was such a horrifying experience, I was also blessed in this journey to marry the love of my life, my son’s father, and my best friend!! With God, my husband, son, and grandmother rooting for me, I have continued the road to success!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a licensed natural hairstylist and I do specialize in the protection of natural hair.

Most know me as a braider but this year, more than ever, I’m breaking out of the box to show more of my skills & creativity. I produce both healthy and gorgeous styles for all of my clients which range from all ages starting at 5. I am most proud of my skills evolving as well as the growth of my clientele throughout the years.

The things that set me apart in such a microwaveable industry are my reliability and the perfectionist in me who will not allow my clients to leave my chair unsatisfied.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice is to always keep a great and positive attitude. Treating people right and right is what you will reap! Always remain coachable because you never know who God will use to help you reach your greater purpose in your journey!

Chasity is the truth! Her dedication to perfecting her craft is a force to be reckoned with. I have known her since she was a child and even then, to see her was to know that she would do great things! The child had swag! The woman has maxed swag times 10! Keep up the excellent work Chat!
