Today we’d like to introduce you to Stella Nguyen
Hi Stella, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
More than 15 years ago, I loved drawing and took the entrance exam to the University of Fine Arts in Vietnam. After graduating, I participated in art activities and taught many children. I have the opportunity to make friends with people who work in tattooing and come to visit, learn and observe. Then I felt like it and signed up for the course and started learning and doing tattoos. Nearly 2 years ago, I came to the US as my husband sponsored me to immigrate and I started over with everything in this new country.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road for me. I was born into a poor family, I earned my own money to go to university. I graduated and couldn’t go to graduate school. I work many jobs related to art.
Fortunately, I have friends who work in tattooing. I often come to observe and find it interesting, so I researched it. I’m quite busy with work and only have free time to learn more about tattooing. After that, l got married and had children and lived alone to take care of my children in Vietnam, my husband was in America.
The busier I get, the more I have to put everything on hold. When my child was 2 years old, I started to really focus on tattooing. Hearned more about working, designing and tattooing. After 2 years I had to start completely over in this new country. Language, exam and job placement were all very difficult for me. I had to work another job to make money.
I had to go to Florida to get a tattoo job, but for some reason, I returned to Memphis. I was introduced by a friend and rented a place in a tattoo shop then I started again. I’m actually new to Memphis and a lot of people don’t know what I do or who I am.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I really like drawing, I can draw with many different materials, I am confident in tattoo techniques, color combinations and shades in each work, I have been professionally and professionally trained. I can design according to customer’s preferences and tattoo. My tattoos are quite detailed.

I’m really self-conscious about language, I’m trying to listen and speak the American language
