Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Clemons.
Hi Brandon, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
It came to a time when I was messing up in school and being a student-athlete wasn’t going as planned. So I needed to come up with a plan b to where I’m able to continue my journey even if basketballs didn’t plan out. I’m very big on fashion, so being my major was business management and the knowledge I was gaining I just decided why not pursue a clothing brand that represents me.
The “7Godz” meaning behind it is to inspire those who have been through many challenges but still strive to become great. I put that as the meaning because even a successful story comes with facing obstacles and doing everything you can to overcome them as well.
So I knew clothing brands are something many people are pursuing I just knew the way I think and how I dress just me being focused, staying consistent, & patient getting 7Godz on the market is not going to be a problem at all.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
You may have time spans where you feel things aren’t going as planned or just doubt the process because you not getting the results you want it’s really just how it goes. I’ve been presented with many opportunities for my brand but I had to miss out on them due to not having funds to get everything I needed to participate in the opportunities presented which I couldn’t even let detour me because I can control only what I can control.
So I just try to continue to learn as much knowledge & wisdom in this field so I can perfect this craft of being an entrepreneur because that’s very important, especially in a field where everyone is doing it all comes down to what I can do to make me stand out from these others brands.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about 7Godz?
7Godz is currently an urban brand, I sell men’s clothing, women’s clothing, children’s clothing as well as accessories. I do want to branch off and do other styles such as formal looks due to me being into that formal style. The way I design is pretty much certain color combinations I see I just design based on that.
I may have customers who want customized products or certain colors so if I don’t have that specifically I just charge a little fee to get that designed for them. What sets me apart from others is my brand I don’t look at it as me being in competition with anyone to be honest. It’s more so I’m in competition with myself, just my way of thinking and designing I try to do better than what I have already put out more so like challenging myself.
I’m in my own lane As I said long as I’m consistent and stay focused I know I can achieve anything. Brand wise I’m proud of the accomplishments I’ve made and pretty much the amount of customers I’ve reached. I love the feedback and reaction from customers when they first see my brand the way it catches their eyes along with me explaining the meaning behind it, it definitely lets me know I have good work.
I know for sure in Memphis I’ve gotten my brand known throughout the city, to billboards, local celebrities, pop-up shops, fashion shows, etc… & this with me still learning and not being fully there funding but I did everything I could to get things done to where it’s effective, acknowledged & recognized.
So I just want the readers to know, that 7Godz will be a household name, you guys will see it more as I continue to build my brand the overall agenda is to get my stores open across the globe which will allow me to reach the platforms with Nike, polo, Gucci, etc…
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like about Memphis is the hospitality, when I came down here it wasn’t hard to fit in at all of course that’s because of the type of person I am but also because it seemed like Chicago just had smaller and better weather so I became comfortable fast. What I least like about the city is pretty much the egos and everybody has the mindset that it’s every man for themselves.
Memphis could definitely be a great city but it’s the people that live within it. There is really no support there. There aren’t people coming together as a team to create things to uplift the city or communities. I’ve heard plenty of stories of what Memphis used to have and how Memphis used to be but it’s like so what are y’all going to do to get it back to how it was as a city
