Today we’d like to introduce you to Keanna Williams.
Keanna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m a proud mom of three, and I’ve always known that I wanted to be a business owner and entrepreneur. My ultimate goal has always been to leave a legacy for my children. Over time, I’ve developed a deep passion for decorating, and while I’ve worked various jobs, I’ve always felt that God had a bigger plan for me—one that involves becoming my own boss.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey hasn’t been easy, not by a long shot. I’ve started several businesses, some of which I’ve sold to other entrepreneurs to help them launch their own ventures. As a business owner, I’ve had to take the highs with the lows, and while I don’t always show it, I’ve faced my fair share of challenges. Many of those I’ve overcome. I’m still learning every day, and I’ll continue to grow as I move toward even bigger things.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Extravagant Events & Creations?
The journey as an event planner has definitely had its ups and downs. There have been challenges with meeting tight deadlines, managing client expectations, and handling last-minute changes. Every event is unique, and sometimes things don’t go as planned, which can be stressful. However, overcoming these challenges has taught me how to stay calm under pressure, be flexible, and find creative solutions on the spot. Overcoming obstacles as an event planner requires a combination of problem-solving and adaptability. When something goes wrong, I focus on finding a solution, whether it’s adjusting the schedule, reworking the design, or coordinating with vendors to make things work. I’ve also learned the importance of preparation and backup plans, which helps prevent some issues from even arising. Each challenge strengthens my ability to handle future events more smoothly. I continue to learn by staying updated on industry trends, attending workshops, and networking with other event planners and vendors. I constantly evaluate what worked well and what didn’t after each event, which helps me refine my processes. As my business grows, I’m expanding my skill set in areas like marketing, client relations, and event technology to ensure I’m always offering my clients the best service possible.
My passion for creating unforgettable experiences for my clients keeps me going. Seeing the joy and excitement in their faces on event day is incredibly rewarding. I’m also motivated by my growth—both personally and professionally. I’m always striving to take my business to the next level, and the thought of expanding my team, offering new services, and building a legacy keeps me excited about the future.
Any big plans?
I plan to open a venue. I tried it once before and I learned from the mistakes I made with that venture.
