Today we’d like to introduce you to Alisha Wilmoth
Hi Alisha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve worked all of my professional career in a corporate setting working in the Marketing and Advertising space. But I always had a dream to start my own business or of being a small business owner because I’ve always wanted to be more involved and connected to the community in which I lived. I found the Monkee’s brand and have been a customer for several years. I explored their franchise opportunity and it was a great fit to what I was looking for. The Monkee’s corporate team provides amazing support from operations and starting up the store but also provides great independence and flexibility for me to customize and bring in items at my store that will work for my customers. Because each store is independently owned and operated, I’m able to listen to my customers and fill my store with what they want. I’ve now been open for just over 4 months and have really enjoyed it! Customers have been so wonderful and happy, excited to have a Monkee’s in Germantown.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
For the most part, it has been a smooth process. The main challenges that I’ve faced have been learning new systems and ways of operations for a small business. Because the Monkee’s team provides amazing support, I’ve been able to address any struggles quickly and found solutions efficiently.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I believe listening is one of the most important qualities needed for success. Listening to customers needs and making sure we are providing them with recommendations that make them feel great and happy with their investment. Knowing that they love what they buy and feel amazing in it because we listened!
