Today we’d like to introduce you to Demetrius Mosley, Jr.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started with a dream of having my own black own business. Staying up at 2 AM having talks with my mom and on the phone with my favorite cousin “Essynce” who is my biggest supporter in this business stuff.
DJSGEMS, LLC started from the bottom but is making its way to the top. I will continue to make my business in every aspect I can.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely not. There ate so many lessons I have learned since 2020. Some struggles are accepting that not every day is a good day in this commerce world.
I started barely having any support with my child so I knew I had to start my own business so I could make my own hours as well.
The main struggle for me as a business owner wasn’t outside obstacles, but instead internal. I realized how hard I am on myself and how I can sometimes overwork and/or not give myself credit. It took me months to actually start my business because of the fear of failure I had.
It’s a true blessing to have people behind you pushing you to do your best.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a 23-year-old that loves to clean and customize clothes. I also do graphic design. I am involved in many things outside of my business. I love exploring my creative side and my entrepreneurship skills.
What sets me apart from others is that no matter how hard things get I push my business and use every minute to invest in my business. I am most proud of my accomplishments.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Don’t beg anybody to support, just pay attention to who does.
