Today we’d like to introduce you to Carol Moody.
Hi Carol, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hospitality, making people feel comfortable and welcome, is an intrinsic quality of mine that I first noticed when I was in high school. Before my mother would arrive home from work each evening, I made it a point to have the house clean, smelling good, with vacuum-lines and all ! It made for a relaxed evening for her and I enjoyed doing it.
So, when short-term rentals (Airbnb, VRBO) became popular, I purchased a property in South Memphis and I quickly became a SuperHost with glowing reviews. I furnished the property with soft, comfortable furniture. No leather or chrome.
I noticed that some of the guests were using the property to host bridal showers and birthday celebrations. That gave me the idea to open a small venue that would be perfect for intimate events.
I set about looking for a location and found the perfect space on Germantown Parkway in Cordova.
With that, Visions Event Studio was born !
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Once we got past the construction/demo phase of the project, it’s been smooth sailing. Code enforcement and fire inspections made me nervous !
The business model is designed for the venue to operate in my absence, much like the Airbnb model. Most of the customers seem to like the booking and payment process, which is all online.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Visions Event Studio is an all-inclusive venue for hosting events that are 50 guests or less. Our most booked events are baby showers and bridal showers.
The venue rental includes tables, designer chairs, black tablecloths, boxwood greenery wall, professional sound system, 65 inch smart TV, and wireless microphone. So basically, the client just needs to bring their food and drinks and they’re all set for their event.
What sets Visions apart from other venues is our quick response time for customer inquiries and the style of the venue. The faux-brick wall and black ceilings makes you feel like you’re downtown instead of Cordova.
Our busiest days are Friday through Sunday. We are open to hosting weekday meetings or trainings.
Going forward into 2025, we would like to be known for hosting intimate weddings at Visions. The trend is that most couples are choosing to have smaller weddings with only their closest friends and families. We have a Wedding Package that will make their nuptials cost-effective and stress-free.
