Rising Stars: Meet Dj Lil Sprite of Philadelphia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dj Lil Sprite

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I go by the name of Dj Lil Sprite; I’m from Philadelphia. I started messing around with FL STUDIO back in like 2010, I was just learning how to work with the program, and at the same time, I was doing Slowed N Screwed mixes on Virtual Dj, and I was trying to host mixtapes kind of like Trapaholics did for Waka Flocka and more. But I decided to go with Music Production. by 2012 or 2013, I started taking it more seriously, but my beats were still trash lol. By 2017 I got my 1st placement with RIFF RAFF. And after that, at the beginning of 2020, I got a placement with Stunna 4 Vegas, the song “LOU WILL,” and the album ended up on #29 BILLBOARD charts. I had a placement that year on STARZ TV NETWORK as well; the show is “P-Valley” you can hear my beat on the 1st episode of the show. Also there is a song ft. NBA Youngboy produced by me, its called Stunna 4 Vegas Ft. NBA Youngboy – “In My Bag”, but it was never relaesed officially on digital paltforms like iTunes and Spotify, you can only find it on YouTube. In 2021 I started working with Snow Tha Product, I produced a song for her in 2021 called “Te Va A Gustar” ft. Aleman. That song was #1 in YouTube charts for a few days, its currently at 41M views. After that i produced a song for her called “Que Le Gusta El FLow” ft. Jon Z. And our newest song is called “Quimica” that came out this year. Right now I am also working with Japanese rap artist, his name is Sho, he is pretty popular in Japan. I have 3 songs with him, “Don’t Do Drugs Pt.2”, “Tesla” & “Shibuya Tokyo”.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This music business is mostly about money and not talent, so most of the times a lot of musicians don’t make it in this game is because they do not invest enough. A lot competition in this music industry too. Basically music industry is 90% business and 10% music.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am music producer. I can make any genre, but I mostly specialzie in hard trap beats, dark beats & drill beats. I produced for artists like NBA Youngboy, Snow Tha Product, Asian Doll, Alemán, RiFF RAFF, Stunna 4 Vegas, Jon Z and more.
