Today we’d like to introduce you to Bobby Woods.
Hi Bobby, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
To be my boss, I left my secure full-time job as a night shift manager at Baptist Hospital and opted for screen printing instead. My brother had a dream to start his own company and I wanted to help. So, in 2012, I became the co-founder of his newly founded company, the Tee-Shirt Lab. We started in a small building with little to no heat, hardly any air conditioning, and floors that would flood.
For the first couple of years, we worked side by side with no employees. It was tough but with hard work and dedication, we managed to survive. The company grew large enough to hire employees and move from our start-up building to a larger facility. Our company was thriving and doing so well, we eventually decided to sell in 2021.
In the midst of one company growing, I was able to start a different type of company. With the core values of family first, I started Tiger Cleaning with my wife in 2016. Offering commercial janitorial service, specializing in office cleaning and general janitorial services. Our business started with just the two of us working anywhere from five to six buildings a week. We both had full-time jobs, but sacrifice was necessary. With any additional time found, we would research how to expand our business.
Always looking for opportunities to grow and ways to enhance our business. With a growth mindset involved we start developing systems to put in place for our future team. We uphold ourselves to high standards and customers appreciate it. This set the tone for the type of behavior that is important for business success. Tiger Cleaning continues to grow providing services throughout the Mid-South, thanks to our customer’s support and employees.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been both challenging and rewarding at the same time to own a business. It’s almost like having a child.
You have created something that needs your attention all the time. I have encountered staffing problems along with cash flow issues at times.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in commercial cleaning. I strive to provide the best service. Ensuring my customers’ needs and expectations are met. I’m known for making sure things are done right the first time. I am proud my business allows me to donate to charities within different communities.
It is important to be able to give back monetary and volunteer, as well. It helps bring in new employees and retains old ones because they are proud of where they work. I have built a reputation for quality work and well-maintained buildings. I believe success is not just about getting clients but keeping them with consistent and reliable service, this sets me apart from others. I lead with ethics and integrity.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
What I have learned along this journey is never stop learning. There will always be ways to enhance your business.
