Meet Adedayo Adeboye of Memphis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adedayo Adeboye

Hi Adedayo, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got saved in 1995 in the Anglican church and later started serving as a teacher in the children and youth department. As I was teaching Sunday school classes, I was growing in grace and the knowledge of Christ, but I was also getting hungrier for God. I knew that I wanted to experience God in my walk with Him practically.
On Sunday, August 15, 1999, God spoke to me about His call on my life and gave me a mandate for the ministry; it was from Lk 4:18-19. At that time, I did not know what it would entail; however, as years went by, the call became more explicit, and I started tailoring all my decisions toward God’s call on my life.
I continued to teach bible classes for young adults in my local Anglican church and led the group for a period. Later in college, I had the privilege of serving as the Secretary-General and, subsequently, as the Prayer Secretary for the Campus Christian Fellowship (ASF), where I met my wife. While in medical school, I also served as the Regional General Secretary for Anglican Students’ Fellowship (ASF-Western Region).
God continued to prepare me after relocating to the United States; the choice of where we lived has always been a function of where God needed us to serve. I served as a Bible study teacher, a Sunday school teacher, a youth group leader, and the youth prayer band leader while in New Jersey.
After that, I moved to Memphis to complete my residency and fellowship training programs; while in training, I served as a Bible study teacher, Sunday School teacher, House fellowship leader, Men’s fellowship leader, and a minister at RCCG, House on the Rock, Memphis, TN before God led us to Columbia, SC. Over there, I also served as a Bible study teacher, Sunday School teacher, Christian education minister, youth department minister as well as the church administrator. In 2019, God subsequently instructed us to move back to Memphis in preparation for this phase of His calling on our lives. He has been faithful all the way!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has been relatively smooth, with some occasional bumps that only ensured a better outcome in terms of growth and strength. One of the aforementioned bumps was the process of finding our current location at 2516 Mt. Moriah Rd, Memphis. We had been at a conference center and had issues intermittently with the sound of events happening simultaneously, interrupting bible study. When it was time to move, the time frame seemed impossible to achieve as we were planning our women’s retreat simultaneously. Many construction problems arose that also made our deadline seem impossible. Our current location is a testament to God’s mercies at Grace Tabernacle International Church (GTIC). It takes faith to obey God and do what He has called you to do, especially when there are several distractions and conflicts; however, nothing is more rewarding than doing what we are called to do. God supplies the grace we need to overcome obstacles when we choose to do His will. We have a saying here at GTIC: we are sponsored by grace; hence, we do not struggle.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a doctor whose specialty is cardiology, and one relation to what I do, as a pastor and cardiologist, is ensuring the heart is in its best shape. Being the lead pastor at Grace Tabernacle International Church, I can ensure that the children of God have their hearts in the right posture to their father. Being a father, one can relate to how much love a father has for his children, and being able to point God’s children to him, makes for a fulfilling calling.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The journey has indeed been filled with challenges, but with unwavering faith in God and the support of our community, we’ve come to understand that nothing is impossible when we place our trust in Him. One of the most profound lessons we’ve learned is the transformative power of service. Love, for us, is not just a sentiment—it is a call to action that compels us to extend God’s grace to those around us.

Through this journey, we’ve discovered that our true purpose lies in being vessels of God’s love, reaching out to those in need with compassion and humility. We are deeply committed to making a tangible difference in the lives of others, both in the Memphis area and around the world. At GTIC, we believe that we are blessed to be a blessing, and it is our mission to demonstrate this by serving others selflessly.

The most important lesson we’ve embraced is that our impact is not measured by our words, but by our actions. Every act of kindness, every moment of service, is an expression of the love that God has placed in our hearts. It is this commitment to service that fuels our passion and drives us forward, knowing that through our efforts, we are making a lasting difference in the lives of those we are privileged to serve.
