Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison McGhee.
Hi Madison, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey into the wedding planning world started when I was just 15 years old making wedding cakes. Even then, I loved being part of such meaningful celebrations and seeing how all the little details came together to create something unforgettable. That early experience sparked my passion for the wedding industry and gave me my first behind-the-scenes look into weddings and events.
From there, I pursued a degree in Hospitality Management at the University of Memphis, where I was able to grow my knowledge and passion for events even further. After college, I began my career in corporate event planning, learning the organization, logistics, and professionalism that go into executing successful events on a large scale.
While I loved the event world as a whole, weddings always had my heart. I eventually transitioned into wedding planning full time, where I discovered how much I loved not only the creative side of weddings, but also building relationships with couples and helping them fully enjoy one of the most important seasons of their lives.
That passion eventually led me to create Reverie Wedding and Event Planning — a company built around intentional design, thoughtful planning, and creating a personalized experience for every client. Over the years, I’ve continued my education and became a Master Certified Wedding Planner through The CWP Society because I truly believe this career deserves professionalism, experience, and constant growth.
Today, I feel incredibly thankful to do what I love every day. From designing beautiful celebrations to managing all the behind-the-scenes details, I’m passionate about creating weddings that feel timeless, personal, and stress-free for my couples.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like many small business owners in the wedding industry, my journey definitely came with challenges along the way. Starting so young gave me passion and experience early on, but it also meant I had to work hard to prove myself professionally. Being a younger planner in the industry sometimes meant having to earn trust quickly and show clients and vendors that I was knowledgeable, organized, and capable of handling such important events.
Another challenge was transitioning from working within established companies and corporate environments into building my own business from the ground up. Running a wedding planning company requires so much more than planning beautiful events — it means wearing every hat at once: marketing, client communication, timelines, finances, social media, networking, contracts, and constantly adapting behind the scenes.
One of the biggest learning curves was finding balance between creativity and structure. Weddings are emotional and deeply personal, but they also require an incredible amount of organization, problem-solving, and calmness under pressure. Learning how to manage high expectations while still making clients feel cared for and celebrated was something that took experience and growth over time.
The wedding industry itself can also be unpredictable. Long hours, weekends away from family, constantly being “on,” and handling unexpected challenges on wedding days can be exhausting. There are moments clients never even see — fixing last-minute issues, adjusting timelines, calming nerves, or solving problems quietly behind the scenes to protect the experience of the day.
I’ve also learned that growing a business takes patience. Building strong vendor relationships, earning referrals, creating a recognizable brand, and gaining trust in the industry doesn’t happen overnight. There were seasons where I questioned myself, worked extremely long hours, or poured so much into the business before seeing the rewards come back around.
But honestly, those struggles helped shape the planner and business owner I am today. They taught me resilience, professionalism, flexibility, and how important it is to continue learning and growing. Every challenge made me more confident in my ability to lead, serve my clients well, and create the kind of experience Reverie is known for today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in wedding coordination, full-service wedding planning, and event design from the ground up. While weddings are at the heart of what I do, I also love creating and planning other meaningful events and celebrations for my clients throughout different seasons of life.
What I love most about this industry is bringing each client’s vision to life in a way that feels authentic to them. I never want an event to feel cookie cutter or like a copy of another wedding. Every couple, family, and celebration is different, so I make the entire planning and design experience completely customizable based on what matters most to my clients, their personalities, and the experience they want to create for their guests.
I’m known for being both extremely professional and genuinely kind throughout the planning process. I believe you can be highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive while still making clients feel comfortable, supported, and cared for. Building lasting relationships is one of the most rewarding parts of my job — not only with my clients, but also with the amazing vendors I work alongside. Many of my clients become lifelong friends, and I’m incredibly thankful that so much of my business has grown through word-of-mouth referrals and trusted relationships within the industry.
What sets Reverie apart is the balance between creativity, personalization, and professionalism. I strive to create beautiful, timeless events while also making the planning process feel seamless and stress-free for my clients. From the big-picture design to the smallest logistical details, I truly care about creating an experience that feels intentional, memorable, and uniquely theirs.
What are your plans for the future?
I’m incredibly excited about continuing to grow Reverie Wedding and Event Planning in a way that stays true to the heart of our brand and the experience we provide our clients. One of my biggest goals is continuing to grow and elevate our team of associate planners, who are incredibly talented and bring the same level of professionalism, care, creativity, and attention to detail that I value so deeply within Reverie. It is very important to me that every client receives the same high-caliber experience and support, no matter which member of our team they are working with.
I also hope to continue expanding into more destination and traveling weddings. I love experiencing new places, working with different venues and vendors, and bringing the Reverie experience to celebrations beyond our local area. Traveling for weddings allows us to be even more creative and intentional while creating unforgettable experiences for our couples.
Another huge priority for me is continuing education and growth within the industry. I strongly believe that there is always more to learn, no matter how much experience you have. We are continuing to attend wedding conferences, networking events, and educational opportunities so we can stay inspired, informed, and continue elevating the experience we provide our clients. I want Reverie to always be growing, evolving, and bringing fresh ideas and professionalism into every event we create.
