Today we’d like to introduce you to Aireuss.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m simply just a kid from North Memphis. My entire life I’ve always loved music and basketball just like a lot of other kids. The more I grew and developed, I started reading more, and listening to music all the time. Even if I didn’t understand the context, I always paid attention to what was said, and as I grew older that developed into how was it said… I listened to everything from 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, Teena Marie, The Isley Brother, Frankie Beverly and Maze, The Eagles, Bob Marley… I could go on and on. I read the Autobiography of Malcolm X, A People’s History of the United States, and various other books. Now as an artist, I love putting words together. I love finding a cadence on beats I like. I love talking about what I’m going through whether I’m feeling the best and wanting to be braggadocios, or I’m humbled and speaking about my feelings or whatever else is on my mind.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing is ever a smooth road. I’m still working and trying to grow my artistry and my following. I think not liking my music when I first started is something a lot of artists go through. I think I’ve just always had an “I’ll figure it out” attitude with everything in life, so even if I’m discouraged, I don’t get mad I just allow myself to feel how I feel and get through it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I rap, I write R&B, I sing (but everyone doesn’t know), and I write poetry. At this time I’m most proud of two of my tapes. The first one being Ain’t No Love and my second one being Songs For Women – EP. I think my flow and my voice sets me apart from others, and I believe the fact that I’m comfortable with myself as an artist and I’m always my number one critique on judging what I sound like and making sure at least I can enjoy it.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I believe stepping out into the world and coming across people in general is the best way to network and even reaching out through social media just to tell someone you like what they do in a genuine way always works. Being genuine and actually being interested in what someone does always works with building connections and networking in general.
