Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my journey as an esthetician in 2017, 6 months after i gave birth to my son. Initially i went to school for makeup, until i realized that was only a percentage of my scope. That was the toughest season for me. I struggled like crazy. Balancing school, being a full time mom, trying to maintain bills and all. It was hard!! 750 FULL TIME hours later, i graduated by the grace of God!! just a month later i took both state test and obtained my license! It was challenging trying to find a job but i held on and was one of many applicants hired at EWC in collierville when they first opened their doors! I instantly grasped the concept of bikini waxing! Within 6 months i stepped out on faith and started Smooth Secrets Waxpalace. Beginning in a suite style setting, i worked my way up and built my clientele to where each suite was bigger and better. Now 9 years later, i became a LICENSED INSTRUCTOR IN ESTHETICS. Also, in what used to be smooth secrets waxpalace, now SMOOTH SECRETS BEAUTY BAR, we are a store front located in Bartlett TN. We offer both hard wax and sugaring to cater to those who prefer one over the other. Walk-ins are welcome with no appointment needed and we have many other services to come. This is not my full story, just the best part.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well as previously stated it was definitely not easy. Many struggles come along with learning patience and becoming a new mom. Of course there was some struggles
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a professional and LICENSED speed waxer. For those who aren’t familiar with the phrase “speed waxing”, it’s basically when you can get 1 area done EFFICIENTLY within a 10-15 minute time frame. I specialize in body waxing from head to toe. I’m very well known around Memphis and many social media platforms as the waxing goat or the wax lady. I’m most proud of every obstacle I faced. It’s the hard times that keeps me going and excited about my future. The difference between Smooth Secrets Beauty Bar and others is what i have to offer. From welcoming the LGBTQ+ community to being apart of the community, to being a black womens owned business, to offering client appreciations, to giving back to our educators, first responders as well as military.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Patience. Wow. This goes further than many will ever know or understand! Being in this industry you have to have patience with people. No matter how hard you work to make things simple, not every one understands on your level of expertise and skill.
