Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Lame.
Hi Jack, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After serving in the U.S. Army, I attended Jacksonville State University, where I majored in Film. During my time there, a graduate of the program visited to give a lecture and offered jobs to any students interested in gaining hands-on experience in the industry. I accepted the opportunity and went on to work on several major productions.
Those experiences eventually led to me being hired as a Production Assistant on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. While working on the film, I met my current creative partner. Inspired by our shared passion for storytelling, we decided to collaborate on a short film exploring mental health within the Black community. Years later, we continue to work together, creating films that tell meaningful and underrepresented stories.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been anything but smooth sailing the biggest obstacle has been and will always be funding. Finding the money to not only film our projects but also pay our cast and crew is difficult enough to make you want to quit sometimes.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a film writer and director. Still very much up and coming but still putting in the effort every chance I get. I’m most proud of my short film 12AM it being my first project but really excited about my next project a mini series called Foodrun.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
You can’t be in the film industry and expect to get far by yourself. You need to network and find a good group of people to build a team together.
