Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Christian.
Hi Brandon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Well basically about me, I’m a singer, songwriter, and producer from Memphis Tn. The music bug definitely came from my mom, she’s a singer herself. She’s graced clubs stages, even won at showtime at the apollo before. It was always music in the house. Always something new to hear and learn. I knew at an early age that’s all I wanted to do. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be an artist , a writer, or producer or all 3, I just knew music was it! I had a record player with one record when I was little, the record was a Stevie Wonder album. I played that record until I couldn’t anymore lol. On the B side of the album was instrumentals to some of the songs, and I started writing my own songs to those instrumentals: I believe my love for writing began then. Fast forward to today, and that’s what you have now. I’m originally a songwriter that was bullied by fans into being an artist lol. My work behind the scenes has gained me recognition even on the artist side so I’m appreciative of it all. As long as it’s music I’ll find a way to be involved. I’m big on organic creativity, I’m trying to bring back feelings to music, real conversations, shameless love for women being preached, more love music , just simply trying to do my part in giving something good to the art of music.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
They start with just seeing my mom carry the load alone. Older me understands how poor we we’re back then but growing up my mom was superwoman to me , she made it feel like we wasn’t poor at times. It was alot of bad outside my door, I grew up in South Memphis , and there were alot of distractions and I got in my fair share of trouble but the old heads used to watch after me, keep me away from the streets. They used to tell me “go sing, you don’t need to be out here mane.” That kept me close to music but my environment was shaping my sound, views on life, love and everything around me. That’s where the rawness comes from, I loved music but as I grew I saw my mom doing it all on her own and I wanted to help so my interest to being a hustler grew fast. With that comes bad decisions, distractions and even life events that made it hard to focus on music at times.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a singer, songwriter and producer. I’m known for producing great r&b, pop and pretty much any genre of music. I also vocal arrange, write for others and make music for tv and film. I recently had 3 placements in the last season of the Chi on paramount plus, a few placements on power on starz , songs with Trina, Ive worked with Lanita Smith, Anthony Q, Omarion , Ive also written demos for Chris Brown, Summer Walker and a plethora of other industry and independent artists. I m also working on a self titled project named BRANDON , coming out In early OCTOBER!
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
It’s honestly being myself. In the era of social media it’s so many people forcing themselves to be something they’re not to be liked, seen or even just stay in the algorithm these days. I stand firm on being myself, I sing what I want, I don’t follow trends and I respect the art of music and making real music and putting something real and authentic in my music for the world to hear feel and understand.
