Today we’d like to introduce you to Danijha Foust.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m Danijha Foust and I’m 23 so my story is far from complete but so far this is it.
I grew up in San Diego California and I’ve always wanted to be a model. Growing up in California it’s easy to be drawn to wanting to be famous and a celebrity. I’ve always been passionate about this and my love for art. I would spend hours watching tutorials on drawing and painting and trying to improve my skills. When I was 14-15 my family and I moved to Memphis and for a split second I thought that my dream was over. I thought that I wasn’t in the right city to make things work in my favor anymore and I was really upset and hurt. After a few years at Mitchell High, started to feel comfortable with this city and started to try getting back into things I was passionate about especially in my art class with Mr Murphy who told me I had a God given talent and encouraged me to always pursue it. I loved painting ceiling tiles and practicing my drawing skills. When I graduated Valedictorian I felt like I could really be seen in Memphis and I started having high hopes for myself again. I started taking my own pictures and getting headshots to send to modeling agencies. I did this for years while I continued painting for my love of it. In 2023 was the first time I was ever given the opportunity to model. Kenya Dalton, was always nice to me in high school and told me often that I should be a model and she gave me to model for her brand. It was the first photoshoot of many to come and I’m grateful that I wasn’t forgotten because it was the taste I needed to keep putting myself out there. In 2025 a Memphis tattoo artist (Inkatsuki tattoos) reached out to me to paint a piece for an anonymous art auction. I was the first time I had been recognized to create something art wise and it ignited a fire in me. I like to think this was the year things really started rolling for me because in 2026 new opportunities began falling into my lap like they were meant for me. I was given the opportunity by Charita Glover to display several of my art pieces in an exhibition in the Art Cafe, called Voices of Witness for several weeks. I was honored to have my pieces admired and studied and was given the opportunity to speak to an audience about my experiences as an artist and why I love it so much. I’ve able to so many photoshoots and model with photographers like Josiah Roberto and Kodak Court. I’ve gotten to meet to many talented models and learn from them like Kendrick Demming who reminded me that I need to get out of my comfort zone. And after years of rejection, I’ve finally been signed to AMAX talent agency in Nashville. I learned that every single small event that occurred in my life had been leading me to every breakthrough I could’ve hoped for. My story is truly just getting started and I’m happy to say that Memphis was never the end of my dreams, it was the beginning and all of the beautiful souls in the city helped to build my dream and I couldn’t be more grateful. Everyday holds a chance for new beginnings and opportunities so long as you keep trying and don’t give up on putting yourself out there.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been the smoothest of roads, there’s moments of excessive silence where it feels like my efforts aren’t going anywhere and like I’m stuck. There’s also a lot of rejection but it’s true that you’re going to hear plenty of no’s before you get yes’s and that’s okay!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an artist and model on my creative side but I’m also a registered and licensed dental assistant. I’m known for painting in acrylics and abstract paintings that make you think. When it comes to modeling, I do whatever I think looks cool and captivating! Art is my thing and modeling just feels like another way to paint a picture with poses, styling, and scenery.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Every interaction with a new person that opens a new door for me feels like luck. When a photographer reaches out or when someone notices that I can paint without me having reached out first always feels like wow what are the chances? As far as bad luck, whenever really amazing opportunities line up with the worst times. Like if I’m going to be out of town or just got my hair done and someone says “hey can you model with your Afro in 2 days?” Just my luck that I’m going to need to take this down but it’s all funny because they teach you that sacrifices and crossroads are going to come and that it’s all going to work it.
