Community Highlights: Meet Renee Pinlac of De La Belle Body & Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Renee Pinlac.

Hi Renee, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I always say that De La Belle wasn’t something I dreamed up overnight—it really grew out of the different chapters of my life and career.

I’ve been a nurse practitioner for almost 25 years and have spent over 30 years working in healthcare, with much of my career centered around endocrinology, cancer, weight management, wellness and caring for patients through different stages of their lives. I also spent more than 17 years at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which shaped me tremendously, both professionally and personally. When you spend that many years caring for people, you learn very quickly that good healthcare is about much more than treating a diagnosis. People want to feel heard, understood and cared for.

Over time, my interests expanded into aesthetics, hormone health, medical weight management and regenerative medicine. What fascinated me was how connected all of those things really are. How we feel affects how we show up in the world, and sometimes something that may seem “cosmetic” on the surface can have a tremendous impact on someone’s confidence and quality of life.

That eventually led me to create De La Belle Body & Wellness here in Memphis. What started as a vision has grown into a boutique medical practice where we can bring those pieces together—wellness, aesthetics, hormones, weight management and regenerative medicine—in a very personal environment.

Owning a business has definitely stretched me in ways that medicine never did! I’ve had to learn marketing, leadership, finances, staffing, technology—and occasionally things I never imagined would be part of my job description. But I think that is also part of what keeps me excited about it. I’m still learning.

Today, I’m incredibly proud of what De La Belle has become, but I don’t feel like I’ve “arrived.” I actually feel like we’re entering one of our most exciting chapters. My focus has become even more centered on helping people invest in their health before something is wrong—not simply helping them look younger, but helping them feel stronger, healthier, more confident and more like themselves.

At the end of the day, that has probably been the common thread through my entire career: I love taking care of people. I love educating my clients and other aesthetic providers about my treatments and the why! The tools and treatments have evolved over the years, but that part has never changed.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t think any road involving healthcare, entrepreneurship and life is completely smooth! There have certainly been the usual challenges of owning a business—learning how to lead a team, making difficult decisions, managing growth and realizing that being a good healthcare provider doesn’t automatically teach you how to run a business.

But one of the challenges that affected me most personally came fairly early in my journey as a business owner. I began experiencing changes in my own health and energy related to hormones. I was trying to grow a business, care for my patients, be present for my family and continue operating at the level I had always expected of myself—and I realized I simply didn’t feel like myself.

What was especially eye-opening was that I was a healthcare provider, and even I hadn’t fully appreciated how significantly hormonal changes could affect the way a woman feels and functions every day.

Finding the right hormone replacement therapy for me made a tremendous difference, but the experience also changed the way I practiced. It gave me a much deeper understanding of the women who would sit across from me saying, “I just don’t feel like myself anymore.” I understood exactly what they meant.

It also made me passionate about education. Women are often incredibly good at taking care of everyone else while quietly accepting exhaustion, brain fog, changes in sleep, mood, weight or libido as something they simply have to live with as they age. I want women to know that they deserve to understand what is happening in their bodies and to have an informed conversation about their options.

So, strangely enough, one of my personal challenges ultimately helped shape an important part of De La Belle. It reminded me that sometimes the best thing we can bring to our patients isn’t just what we learned in a textbook—it’s the ability to truly understand what it feels like to sit on the other side of the conversation.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
De La Belle Body & Wellness is a boutique medical aesthetics and wellness practice in Memphis, and I think what sets us apart is that we truly look at the whole person.

We specialize in medical aesthetics, hormone replacement therapy, medical weight management, regenerative medicine, advanced skin and laser treatments, body wellness and IV and injectable nutrient therapy. That sounds like a broad list, but to me, these services are actually very connected. Our patients aren’t coming to us as just a face, a number on a scale or a lab value. They are coming to us because they want to feel better, look refreshed, age well and continue doing the things they love.

My background in medicine has a tremendous influence on how I approach aesthetics and wellness. I have been a nurse practitioner for more than 20 years and have worked in healthcare for over 30 years. I’m also a master cosmetic injector, but I never want aesthetics to be about changing someone into a different person. My philosophy has always been to help people look refreshed and natural—like themselves, just on a really good day.

On the wellness side, education is a huge part of what we do. Whether I’m talking with a woman about hormones, helping someone navigate medical weight loss, discussing hair restoration or introducing regenerative treatments, I want patients to understand the why behind what we’re doing. I don’t believe healthcare should feel like something that is simply being done to you. I want my patients involved in the conversation.

I’m especially proud that De La Belle has continued to evolve as medicine has evolved. We invest heavily in education, training and technology, but I’m very intentional about not chasing every new trend. If I bring something into my practice, I want to understand the science behind it, who it is appropriate for and how it can genuinely benefit my patients.

I’m also proud of the relationships we have built. Memphis is a wonderfully connected community, and many of our patients have been with me for years. They send their friends, their spouses and sometimes their adult children to us. That trust means more to me than any individual treatment we offer.

Ultimately, I want De La Belle to be known as a place where science, wellness and aesthetics meet very personal care. You can absolutely come see us because you want great skin or a little Botox—and we love that! But you may also discover that we can help you have a conversation about your hormones, your weight, your energy, your hair, your overall wellness or how you want to age.

Looking good is wonderful. Feeling good enough to enjoy your life is even better. I think there is room for both.

How do you think about happiness?
I laugh when people ask me about my hobbies because I’m not sure I actually have one! The truth is, I genuinely love what I do. If I’m not at De La Belle taking care of patients, I’m probably reading about a new treatment, researching new technology, learning a technique or thinking about what we can do next. I’m naturally curious, and medicine and aesthetics are constantly evolving, so there is always something new for me to learn. Fortunately, that still excites me after all these years.

But my greatest happiness comes from the people in my life. I love shopping and spending time with my daughter, traveling with my husband—and yes, we are absolutely Disney people—and being with our family and friends. Those relationships keep me grounded and remind me that life is supposed to be enjoyed, not just accomplished.

I’m also happiest when I’m connected to people. If I’m not at De La Belle, there’s a good chance you’ll find me somewhere in the Memphis community—at an event, networking, meeting new people, supporting another local business—or cheering on my husband and his band. I genuinely enjoy showing up for people.

I think I’ve reached a point in my life where happiness is less about separating “work” from “life” and more about building a life filled with things and people I truly enjoy. I love my work. I love my family and friends. I love learning, traveling, meeting people and being part of my community. I’m very thankful that my days contain a lot of all of those things.
