Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Lewis.
Hi Brittany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello. My name is Brittany Lewis. I’m going to try and keep it a little short and sweet. As a child and teen, I wasn’t in the best living or family situation. I was homeless. I was jumping from place to place, sleeping in cars. You name it. I always knew that my storm wouldn’t last long, I just had to find a way out. Growing up, I never really thought much about what I would be doing when I got older. I just knew that I would become a millionaire one day.
The goal is to manifest everything. Back then, of course, I thought it would be impossible, but I always had faith to keep going. Fast forward to about six years ago, I was jumping from job to job, warehouse to warehouse. I absolutely hated working for other people. I hated walking in and being on other people’s time. I knew I didn’t want to work for anyone anymore, but I pushed through until I came up with a plan. In 2017, I decided that I wanted to go to Esthetician school. My initial goal was to do facials and makeup, but I quickly grew an interest in lash extensions. My first step was taking a lash certification class. I really enjoyed it.
About a month later, I pursued my goal with Esthetician School and graduated the following January with my Aesthetician License. At the time of my graduation, I knew that I would never go work for anyone else. I decided to create my own business. I was unemployed for a few months and my husband and I were struggling with our first baby due to the fact that I wasn’t working and my husband’s job was cutting hours. I knew we had to make a difference. December of 2018, I came up with the name The Aesthetic Vanity. It rang a bell to me because it is universal. I can add absolutely any service to this name.
So, I stuck with it. Fast forward to today, I am now making over six figures a year with my lash business. I ended up leaving the facials and makeup out, but who knows what the future will bring. I will be adding more services soon, but for now, here are the services I offer: Lash Extensions, Eyelash Extension Training, Mentorship, Eyelash Product Retail and Wholesale, and much more.
I just say, I never thought my husband and I would be where we are today, but this business has pulled us through the roof! We now have two successful businesses, four children, our very own house, and much more. I am a walking testimony and I will forever live to guide other entrepreneurs the best way that I can.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. Being an entrepreneur is very bumpy at times. You have to put your all into it. Running your own business requires you to be fully dedicated and motivated. Your business is just like having another baby. A few things I’ve struggled with was the legal part of my business since I work from home. It took me over a year to figure out what all I needed to be a legit home-based service provider.
I didn’t have mentors to help guide me so I googled everything. Money was another obstacle. Starting out, I didn’t know that startup costs would be so much. You’re spending hundreds of dollars starting out to test out supplies, buy equipment, pay for education, and more. Supplies and products were definitely the most difficult for me because I tested so many products that were such poor quality and it took a lot of money and patience.
Running your own business consists of investing money to make money as everyone says. That is definitely true. But thanks to everyone now, we have many resources that help with all of this.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am currently known for and specialize in Professional Eyelash Extension Services and Trainings. What sets me apart from other lash artists is my creativity. I absolutely love creating art with all of my lash sets. I also have a 5-star ranking for exceptional customer service in my city. What I am most proud of brand wise, I keep it completely authentic.
I express my true self through my business. I love Jack Skellington, so he is a big factor in my business. I use Jack for the promotion of my business most of the time. I also express myself through my business as far as being open. My tattoos are revealed, my true personality, my interests. I keep it real with my clients and customers so that they are super comfortable when being serviced by me.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Passion. Without passion, this career is messed over. If you don’t have a passion for doing lashes or teaching, your quality will be poor. Before thinking about doing lashes, you should consider your patience. How patient are you?
How well do you deal with other people? Are you a people person? Will you like to work closely with clients? Are you in this to make a career/business out of it or just a side hustle? There are many factors to look at, but I feel like passion is well needed in this business.
