Today we’d like to introduce you to Bria Bailey.
Hi Bria, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I come from a family of stylists and business owners, so I knew it would be destined for me. For a while, I tapped into other things because I knew I wanted to do a lot at the time. I quit my job six years ago because of my circumstances. I got tired of walking and riding the bus.
One morning, I just decided I wanted to do something else, just fed up with everything at the time. I was expecting my first child around this time. So, I had to think quickly. Hair has always been my first love, so I went back to what I knew! I took my last check and bought all the supplies I needed to get started. I worked up until my pregnancy, both times. Being able to set my own schedule it was a lot easier for me to work and take care of the kids.
I didn’t expect things to expand as they did. 2019, I made a list and told myself to knock down each goal to give my business the light that it needed. I knew I didn’t want to work for the corporate world anymore, so I stuck to my guns and dedicated everything towards my brand. Meeting a certain goal each month was important to me, I worked eighteen-hour shifts for a while. Long nights, early mornings, putting my last into what I loved. It cost me a lot but it was totally worth it.
Trying to work during the pandemic gave me the push I needed believe it or not. I’ve gone through so much within the last two years, I put all of my pain into my passion. All the blood sweat and tears really paid off. I’ve accomplished much in a short time, I am proud of myself for that.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
18-hour shifts, long nights early mornings, trying to stay on top of your business when you’re exhausted or have no energy at all. Having and keeping your faith and knowing everything will be fine no matter what happens. I’ve gone many days putting my last into my business. Staying up to date and creative with appealing content. It is not for the weak.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in natural hair, protective styles to be exact. Braids and twists of any color or style, the trends change by the minute now. I’m known for my quality work and dedication. I’m proud of the stats this year, over four million viewers, two thousand subscribers, and I’ve reached my 600th client this year.
I am now a brand ambassador for some of the major hair companies like EZ Braid & Style Factor, it’s pretty amazing. I stand out from others because of who I am all around, I’m respected in positive ways, I inspire many people around the world, my spirit and genuineness keep everyone around. I’m one of the coolest people to meet and network with.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was one of the boys actually. I ran with my younger brother for a while before I tapped into my inner girl. I was just as creative as doing any and everything. I started writing short stories and poetry at the age of eight, my mom knew then how gifted I was.
Always wanted to prove my ability to do things the average kid couldn’t do. We moved around a lot so I went from socially awkward to just downright outgoing!
