Meet Shatina Brooks of TinaB Skin Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shatina Brooks.

Hi Shatina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I wish I could give a story of how I wanted to be a soap maker as a little girl, but that would be untrue. Being a licensed Aesthetician and waxing over 1,000 clients, I saw men and women struggling with skin issues. These skin issues ranged from dry and cracked skin to unwanted scaring. You name it I saw it.

I was tired of seeing my customers disappointed and decided to partner with a company that created products to help with their issues. Although the company was helpful, I also needed products where I controlled the ingredients. That’s where my journey to becoming a soap maker began.

I jumped into a six-month research project and attended courses to learn how to make natural products that would offer the solutions my customers needed. I am so excited, I took a leap of faith because so many people are being helped by my products.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been full of twists and turns. I once made 66 bars of soap, upon cutting the loaf I immediately knew something was wrong. While in my quest for continued learning, I figured out the bars didn’t offer the quality I advertise. I immediately trashed the soap bars and shared with customers the need for the delay. The bars had to be made all over again!

My morals and perfectionism really slow me down! And I’m ok with that. I want to truly help people with their skin by providing great products with amazing quality. The more I learn I find that most concepts taught to focus more on creating products quickly as opposed to being helpful to the skin. I won’t ever compromise skin health for faster production.
