Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniela Flores.
Hi Daniela, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I first started my online business Jubileee Studio October 2020. The very first product I started with was handmade stickers! I had made a few different designs and decided to launch a full-on website. At the time, I had around 50 Instagram followers. All of my promotion was done through Instagram. I would post daily on stories keeping up with my life – almost in vlog format! I would share my daily activities with my followers like drawing, working on my website, taking promotion photos, youtube vlogging, making coffee trips!
To my surprise the first day of launching my website I had over 20 orders totaling over $300! For stickers!? I was amazed that with such a small audience I could make a decent amount in one day! It was a shock that people loved my designs so much that they would spend their own money on my stickers! From that day on, I knew that there was something there
At the time of launching my online business, I was a full-time hairstylist. I started to spend all my days off and free time working on my website, trying to add new designs, new products, and just grow my Instagram following. One of my other passions is to create content so it was really fun for me to be able to do both While advertising my shop.
One year later, I am now full-time at my online business and no longer doing hair.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle along the way was choosing between doing hair and running my shop.
In my heart, I knew I wanted to fully pursue my art career and go full in on my shop but I was really scared to disappoint people along the way (like my clients) it was a really hard decision for me to make to stop doing hair
I knew that if I put all of my energy into doing my shop I would feel happier and more fulfilled. So, ultimately, I chose myself.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I still have handmade stickers, art prints, handmade rugs, rug coasters, t-shirts, notepads, and hopefully more to come in the future! I think what really draws people into my art is the way that it makes them feel.
Every time I am creating something, I am always thinking of a bigger picture. Most of my work at face value seems like a simple, cute doodle but I always have a deeper meaning to my pieces!
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important thing I have learned along the way is to follow my intuition pursue my dreams and just have fun while doing it.
