Today we’d like to introduce you to Elysia Mitchell.
Hi Elysia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a licensed cosmetologist based in Memphis, Tn. I have been in the hair industry for over 10 years. I discovered my gift at the age of 7. Hair has always been my passion, It all started with me doing hair in the neighborhood, at school, etc. I started out as a braider then got more into weave extensions. I got my name out to the public before social media came about so I was always well known for my craft. Over the years my clientele grew and it put me in a position to be a full time hairstylist. I currently specialize in weave extensions and wigs. The question I get asked the most is how did I get into wig making. I have always been eager to learn new things and techniques in my field. I started making wigs by hand in 2017 & later on perfected my craft using the sewing machine. I could remember having too much time on my hand during the “pandemic”., so I took advantage of that downtime and applied it to my business. Needless to say I’m happy that I did I enjoy what I do.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It most definitely has not been a walk in the park. I have overcome and faced many obstacles and just figuring out things on my own along the way. From all the long nights to early mornings to taking risks & stepping out on faith. I have always been up for a challenge and this road has not been easy but yet so worth the journey… Greatness doesn’t happen overnight!! You can do whatever you put your mind to.

LaidByLysia Is a Licensed Hairstylist / Wig Maker., specializing in Weave extensions. Here at the Laid Tribe We Make Luxury Custom Glueless Wigs, Install Wigs, & Installing Weave Extensions Etc. In addition, We also sell hair products our best seller is the “Blendstick” We also provide classes as well. Our custom wigs are made via sewing machines.
What sets me apart from others? My work ethic, my drive, my transparency, my customer service.
The thing I’m most proud of is my growth & being self taught. I have been a business owner for quite some time now and the road has been bumpy along the way. Many people fear failure but in my opinion, failure is part of the process, most people want to take the elevator to success but it’s so much more than what social media shows. You have to work hard & be dedicated and love what you do.!!!
