Rising Stars: Meet Breanna Thompson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Breanna Thompson.

Hi Breanna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always loved reading reviews on Yelp and Google about the different experiences people have had at various places. I think it is very entertaining reading through comments and looking at the pictures because that can truly show how people experience things differently.

Back in the day, I was the person who would always take pictures of their food when going out, and to this day I pride myself in making sure that all my pictures are top-notch due to the fact that I have stumbled across some that literally looks like a hot mess. Lol.

My motto is “If it’s not a good picture, it’s not getting posted.”

Towards the end of my college career, I knew that I wanted to get more into content creation but since I was about to graduate… I had to find a “real job”. I was offered a job in the “food capital” city of New Orleans, LA and I made it a point to start “Tasting With A Breeze” to share my experience of all the food I ate while there.

Two years and 1800+ followers later, my brand has caught a lot of attention from people all over and has helped recommend different places for them to visit.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Mannnn, I wish I could say all this was a smooth road. Haha. I’ve always been on social media building my personal brand since high school, which was just more for leisure. So since people knew me IRL I thought it would be pretty easy getting a nice following and establishing myself from there.

As I transitioned into a different lane of content creating and starting from scratch when building my new brand, it was definitely a struggle at first. Just like with any new social media account you have to be willing to work through the ins and outs on how to have people buy into whatever content you are putting out there.

That is why I continued to be consistent in expanding my brand and reaching many audiences. One thing that my followers know is that I will be very candid and authentic with my posts, good or bad . Lol, and with that, my audience has grown to what it is now.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Tasting With A Breeze’s main focus is for someone to browse the page and after 1 swipe, they’re instantly hungry. lol No but really Tasting With A Breeze is a review page mainly for Reviewing Food with a sprinkle of Travel and Lifestyle.

My goal is to help promote and support as many businesses as possible to help and share with people the experience I’ve had at certain places or events. I am known for always having authentic and read reviews where people can feel very confident about what to expect with their next adventure.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I looveeeee MEMPHIS TEN! & I’m not going to lie. I did move away for college and was gone for 6 years, but since I’ve been back, I’ve grown to love my city so much more. Memphis is such a unique place because we are the home of some of the most remarkable people and things; St. Jude, Beale Street, Home of Blues, we’re the BBQ Capital, we have FedEx, Young Dolph… should I go on?

Lol. Memphis is made up of people who are destined to impact people’s lives in some type of form or fashion. My favorite thing to do in Memphis is either see the Grizzlies Rowr in the FedEx Forum or walk around one of the many different festivals we have annually here. I love that Memphis has a culture of helping people, we are known for our many nonprofits, like Bridges and City Year.

(I actually served at both of those organizations.) I’ve met some of the most incredible people in Memphis and learned so much from them. Memphis will forever have a hold on me and I am deeply grateful for all my experiences and the food here.
