Meet Yana’ Adams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yana’ Adams.

Yana’, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Ever since I was a little girl, music just always comforted me. No matter what I was going through, I would turn on some music then my entire mood would change and I would forget about all of my worries. I grew up dancing in a lot of school programs and talent shows!

I even took music classes and joined the choir, but singing definitely wasn’t my strong point! With that being said, even though I’m not a singer and/or “professional” musician, I always could tell if that specific song was THEE ONE! If a song gives me goosebumps, has a great flow, makes me dance, or gives an inspiring message then that’s how I know when it’s about to take over the charts!

One day during my college years at Middle Tennessee State University, I heard an amazing artist by the name of Bryson Tiller with a new song called, “Don’t”, during that time I was like this song is freaking amazing! I made a video of me listening to it as well as tagging Bryson Tiller on Instagram. He liked my post and told me, “Thank you!” During that time, he wasn’t poppin’ like that, but I just knew that he had a hit on his hands! A year later, Bryson’s song “Don’t” was at the top of the charts!

After that moment, I told myself that I don’t want such amazing talent to not get recognized by me! When I know something is IT, I need to make sure everyone gets a taste of it! So eventually a friend of mine by the name of Tony Smith mentioned that I should create playlists on Apple Music because I usually put him on to some good artists/music.

So I took it into consideration and curated my first playlist in 2017 called “The Function” and the rest is history! I received so much support from it, spoke to such amazing artists, DJs, producers, etc. Never in my life, I would’ve thought I would connect with people that have such great talent and level of status in the music industry! So since 2017, I eventually gave myself a branding name which is now THE:SNOOZE! #NoSleepingGetFamiliar

The reason behind the name is for people to wake up and not sleep on themselves! Along with us sharing such great talent with others surrounding us to allow that music artist, producer, etc to become very familiar with them because they’re going places very BIG!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road is definitely not smooth! My main struggle is dealing with men who want to support what I have going on, but want something in return sexually.

That’s really something I can’t give and I won’t sleep my way up to the top! I’ve been doing a great job this far creating my brand, I can’t allow that to stop me even though it’s very frustrating when all you want is someone to see your vision and genuinely want to help support it.

Along with that, I still work a 9-5, so the artist is not alone! I’m here grinding it out with you all too!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Playlist Curator, on Apple Music! That’s the platform I started with and love to grow with them along with being an Official Playlist Curator for the company.

I’m most proud of the flowers I receive from the music artist. I am truly thankful for the support that’s given because I know how easy it is to give up on the things that you love and I love to be there to let them know that better days will come, but giving up can never be an option!

I make sure that stay in touch as much as I can even though I face my own struggles in life, I still try to show up and check-in to see how everyone is doing.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see myself being the top Playlist Curator for one of the biggest companies in the world, Apple (Apple Music).
