Today we’d like to introduce you to DeWayne Wright.
Hi DeWayne, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Here’s my story. I started a job working in home furnishing at IKEA right here in Cordova. I noticed how complexed the instructions could be because there aren’t words in today’s instructions. This was great for me because I’ve considered myself a pictorial learner. Not many can say that about themselves, this advantage created a need that I could fulfill. Wizz Creative Creations LLC is a company that loves challenges when it comes to furniture assembly and mounting. “I could do this all day.” Literally, I could. When you find something that your great at and can make money doing it-that’s a win! This career path gave me the freedom I’ve always wanted. I never find myself not in the mood to go to work lol. Especially because it’s something different every day. Also when I speak about freedom not just heading in the direction of financial freedom, but the freedom to be home and raise my kids. Family is important to me and it’s a major factor in any decision that I make in my life. I can’t imagine not taking this step. I’ve been inspired by so many different people, but the one person that’s inspired me the most is my close friend/brother owner of Tennessee’s Elite OCD cleaning services NT Genous. This guy is humble, hardworking, and precise. He told me if I don’t go after my goals and my dreams I can’t blame nobody but myself for not succeeding. I know that’s hard love! I always respected that from him because he is a single man with five kids and works roughly 70 hours a week, and still manages to operate his business. That’s dedication! I want to have that same drive when it comes to my business. Wizz Creative Creations got it’s name from my nickname Wizz. Wizz-smart kid etc. I’ve always considered myself as an intelligent person. I feel like I’m constantly growing and challenging myself especially with this business. I just hope that one day it grows so much that I can really help people not just locally but outside my area and beyond…..
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some of the struggles had been mainly with social media. This world we live in today is amazing because social media has change the world we know it. It makes it easier to start a business, but yet it kills newer business with the bigger names come with hundreds of thousands of followers. It’s just hard to do it alone. You need a team and they need a fan base and there fan base needs a fan base. This has been a struggle for me because I don’t have very many followers

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
During this COVID-19 pandemic, I’ve learned a lot. You are not as valuable as you think when it comes to working a job. Majority of America was laid off. I’ve learned that you always have to have a backup plan. Having multiple streams of income is the best way to go. Even with a 9 to 5 job you need other streams of income.
