Today we’d like to introduce you to DeLeon Guest.
Hi DeLeon, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As a young girl, baking was a family tradition with my mother and grandmother. Every holiday season my mother and I would bake her famous red velvet and Italian cream cheesecake.
Over the years, I started baking cakes for my friends, neighbors, and coworkers. In 2016, I stepped out on faith and started DeLeon’s Delights. I continued to persevere and get inspiration from my son Dillon and especially from my daughter Kendall who was born 3 months premature in 2017.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a business has its challenges, yet being an entrepreneur is rewarding. One of my biggest areas where I continue to grow is connecting with customers through social media.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
DeLeon’s Delights is known for beautiful customized cakes with the taste to match. I’m proud of how my business has grown right here in Memphis and the relationships DeLeon’s Delights has allowed me to establish. What sets me apart from others is the unforgettable southern taste of my delicious cakes and pies.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to never give up on yourself even when things seem impossible. Faith and prayer will carry you through tough situations. I’ve also learned to always be open to learning new skills and accepting constructive criticism from other entrepreneurs in my industry.
