Today we’d like to introduce you to Martin Powell.
Hi Martin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Martin (PreacherMan) Powell, is a Gospel Rap Artist, who has been rapping for God for the past 10 years.
The journey started back in the early 2000s had a very bad fall at work that left me immobile for 9 months, I had time to reflect on my life and decided to live for the Lord. I was also an ex-felon with 2 strikes and I needed to make a drastic change in my life. The inspiration came from GOD to start doing Gospel Rap
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a Gospel Rapper hasn’t been easy but it has been worth it.
The song goes “Nobody told me that the road would be easy but I don’t believe He brought me this far to leave me.” Its like in the beginning not churchy enough for the church and not street enough to blend in.
But God always provided guidance. Staying true to His word and being faithful has opened a lot of doors that no man could shut.

I am most proud of becoming a member of the Recording Academy(Memphis Chapter). My passion for what i do shows in every performance stands out greatly.

PreacherMan has won awards or been nominated in both Gospel and secular events for Artist of the Year and Song of the year for; The Stone Awards, I sign myself awards, Memphis Hip-Hop Awards, Hood Idol Awards, KIA Gospel Awards, Gospel Music Choice Awards.
