Meet StarBunny

Today we’d like to introduce you to StarBunny.

Hi StarBunny, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve lived here in Memphis, and in California, moving back and forth during my childhood, and due to some loss of family, became stationary here. I’ve always been that weird/shy/artsy/nerdy kid who was just full of life and expression, never afraid to be myself, and now that I’m older, I’m even more comfortable in being who I am, even if I’m still shy at heart!

I began my musical journey in 2014, playing around on my computer creating songs/instrumentals that weren’t the best, but slowly, I got better, and got more serious about creating music. It quickly became my favorite creative outlet! Now, I’m producing my own tracks, singing and performing whenever I’m invited out and furthering my skills as a musician!

I started doing my nails in 2019, due to the fact I kept going to some salons here in Memphis, not being satisfied with how they came out, or getting a fungal infection underneath their work. The self-teaching was a fun journey, until someone suggested that I go to school for it, since I showed potential to improve what I already was practicing. Being told to attend a school, let me know that I needed proper instruction.

After attending Ghould’s Academy, my technique greatly improved, and it continues to get better with continued practice! Now, I do my own nails and take clients who like my work, so I can further grow in skill, and eventually open my own establishment for nail services and spa treatments.

My goal as a visual artist is just to express myself artistically and portray emotions/concepts that people can see/feel/understand. I’ve been drawing, painting, creating, and crafting since I was a kid, and I’ve never stopped.

Maybe one day, I’ll have some of my work in an art gallery, haha!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve had a lot of challenges in my life.

Absolutely no easy road to drive on. Finding myself and these passions have probably been the most difficult. Going through the process of finding what you truly enjoy in life is an obstacle in itself, so I’m glad that being a Musician, Artist, and Nail Tech are 3 things that spark joy in my life.

The journey to get to this conclusion was tough, but now I feel like I’m better than I ever was, and that’s a big accomplishment for me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a creative person that expresses myself through music, art, and nail care.

I provide relaxing and healthy nail services to those who need nail care, or want unique designs for their nails.

I’m an excellent singer/songwriter, who also produces instrumental tracks for songs I create for myself, and others.

I create artwork representing themes from my imagination, or specific topic based ideas in my own unique styles, that tells a story, giving your mind an interpretation on what it says.

I’m an all-around artist no doubt. Anything I can do creatively, I’m here for it! Making what’s in my head/imagination come into reality, is what I love the most, and I hope that it translates over well to individuals unfamiliar with me, eventually becoming familiar with my work.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I feel that a good characteristic of my success is the drive and eagerness to keep outdoing my last project. To keep going and improving, to keep learning and experiencing growth in my crafts. Elevation.
