Today we’d like to introduce you to Fexogamous Yfd.
Hi Fexogamous, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always been very creative. When I was 13 years old, I was in class one afternoon, and I was drawing just to pass the time.
A couple of my classmates saw that I could draw and asked me to design their 8th-grade prom dresses, which I did, and they went on to have the designs made into actual dresses and that’s what sparked my inner fashion designer.
It wasn’t until I was in my late 20s That I actually began to take my career as a fashion designer and Seamstress seriously.
About a year ago, another designer by the name of Yaya Yogi reached out to me and invited me to be a part of her fashion show and I have been designing full-time ever since!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely been a challenge as a fashion designer one of the major struggles that come with being a fashion designer are the times when you wouldn’t have any clients at all and with that extra time on your hands you begin to question if you made the right choice to pursue fashion full time.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Fashion Designer, Stylist, and Seamstress.
To sum it all up, I created the term designstrés. I’m pretty much known for my designs where I mix different pieces from different cultures into one outfit. I am most proud of my perseverance throughout my journey in the fashion industry.
What sets me apart from others is that I embody the different cultures and create unique pieces of wearable art that can be worn for any occasion, no matter how big or small.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most people would be surprised to know that I’m an introvert! I’m super shy and I can be extremely nervous around a lot of people!
