Hi Donna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
After discontinuing my career as a rapper, I decided to take a different route.
I wanted to tap into makeup so I discovered Gould’s Academy for Esthetics. I had no idea what exactly I was getting into, but I knew I was lost and needed to find something I was passionate about and could make money! Once I got into Esthetics school, I fell in love!
I learned so much more than makeup but how to treat the acne-prone skin that I dealt with pretty much all of my life! Once I graduated, I hit the ground running! In 2017, I started my very own corrective skincare line called Skin By Donna and I became a full-time Esthetician.
Esthetics has been life-changing for me. I would say it’s a blessing because it paved the way for me to be able to provide for my family and live a pretty good lifestyle! In 2021, I began expansion for Skin By Donna Wax Studios! This has been a dream of mine ever since I became an Esthetician and worked for one of the top Wax Centers in the US.
In January of 2022, my dream is now a reality and I own my very first brick and mortar SKIN BY DONNA WAX STUDIOS, located in Southaven MS. I consider myself a BIG BOSS and I absolutely love my team and what I do! We provide top-tier services and treat our customers like Royalty!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey to where I am now has been very interesting!
Going from being my own boss to the boss of others was everything but easy. Running an entire operation was very overwhelming at first but once I officially hired a team I was able to delegate a large chunk of the load!
