Today we’d like to introduce you to Enid Blanton. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Ancestry Cigars, Inc. was founded in Chicago, IL August 2020 by Enid B. Blanton an African American Woman who is also a veteran of the United States Air Force. Ancestry Cigars currently has three cigars in its lineup Connecticut, Habano, and Maduro.
This line can be found in numerous outlets throughout the United States as well as online and in different cigar mail order boxes.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all whatsoever. Some of the challenges that I have faced are being a woman, being African American, and people believing in the product.
As you know, we’re big fans of Ancestry Cigars Inc. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Ancestry Cigars, Inc. is a Black woman-owned veteran-owned Cigar brand that is currently located in Chicago, IL. In January of 2022, I was awarded by Destination Herf The 2022 Rookie of the Year for my accomplishments in the cigar world.
I’m the CEO/Owner and I’m responsible for creating new cigars as well as making sure the brand gets into different tobacco outlets. What sets us apart from everyone else is our slogan which reads “Taking it back to our Ancestors one cigar at a time”.
What I’m proud of brand-wise is that we are starting to become a household name in such little time. Currently, right now we are working to extend our line along with working on moving our headquarters to Florida.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I would have to say that I was well-rounded. I come from a background of educators.
My mom taught school for 43 years before she retired. It’s funny because as a child I had always dreamed of becoming a doctor. Never would I have imagined sitting here today owning my own cigar brand.
