Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelvin Jones.
Hi Kelvin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It all started in 2013 standing alongside my grandfather, James Wilbur Jones AKA Bear. He would cook up skins and I would help with sales from Memphis to Jackson TN .
It all begins with a name and a great product. It wasn’t much longer before I begin helping Bear cook and package skins and falling in love with this craft easily became a passion from seeing the different shapes and sizes of the skins develop.
Throughout the process, we put our heads together and came up with a logo for packaging purposes thanks to Carlos for bringing our catchy logo to life.
It wasn’t long after 2016 that Papa Bear passed away. Even though he’s no longer here in flesh yet people still get to experience the original taste of Papa bear skins. Even though he never got to see the food truck come to life I know he’s still a huge part of this achievement.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Even though it hasn’t been a smooth road we still successfully come through consistently with a great product. We’ve had our ups and downs as well as losing James Wilbur Jones AKA Papa Bear 2016 to go on to his internal life.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Papa Bears Skins was started in the early 2000s by founder James Wilbur Jones.
By 2013, Kelvin Jones came along to help to further the family business we are known for our tasty skins/pork rinds alongside that we offer other products as well for instance our really tasty buffalo chicken egg rolls and more.
We are very proud to be able to give people a different experience when it comes to pork rinds fresh hot and flavorful serving 1 happy customer at a time off of the food truck.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Stay ready and you never have to get ready a day at papa bear skins is a day non-wasted.
When we are fully prepped and prepared everything goes smooth from great compliments of customer service down to how great the food makes it all worth it.
