Today we’d like to introduce you to Sixela Enolam.
Hi Sixela, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Greetings! I go by Sixela Enolam (SIX for short), born and raised in the small town of Cleveland, Mississippi.
Growing up, I would always watch America’s Next Top Model, admiring the stunning models. They inspired me to get into modeling at an early age and so did my family. But as an outcast to my peers.
I was taunted because of the things that interested me such as Tyler, the Creator (when he first surfaced), grunge/alternative fashion, screamo, and dark things of that nature. Although I was different from others, I didn’t let their opinions of me affect who I am.
As a teenager, I had the courage to do my first photoshoot thanks to my mother. Of course, it was a punk/alt theme which gave me the range to express myself. Ever since then, I was hooked on being in front of the camera.
I was so interested that when I went to college, I majored in Art and also was a part of the art and multimedia club. Honored to say that I was crowned as queen of them both as well. This gave me the opportunity to learn a lot more about the many forms of art such as sketching, painting, 3D sculpting, pottery, photography, editing software, and more!
Once I achieved my degree, I continued to work hard and pursue my vision of being a model. I’ve done a few photoshoots in my hometown. When I collaborated with rave designer @ValleyofBabez, our work actually went viral on Pinterest! That gave me so much motivation to keep pushing! I soon relocated to Memphis in 2019 and quickly gained more opportunities in the modeling industry.
My odd identity definitely captures the attention of countless people so I take pride in displaying my alternative self for shoots because I am most comfortable with just being me. Once I decided to cosplay as some of my favorite anime characters, I gained more supporters from a totally different scene.
That has taught me to do whatever I want despite the differences and to just go for the unordinary! I am very appreciative of my supporters and everyone that I have collaborated with so far. I am thrilled about what the future holds.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The road has not always been smooth for me. Life is a real thing so you have to be prepared for the unexpected and make decisions that are best for YOU.
Sometimes there may be bumps along the way but you can’t let that stop you from going after the goals that you want to achieve. I’ve overcome many struggles such as dealing with my anxiety, losing loved ones, finding out who’s really there for me, and much, much more.
But I’ve learned through meditation to be at peace with the things that have and will take place in life. All that I can do is stay prayed up, protect my energy, and continue to show love towards my peers. I believe that the universe will always guide me to the road that is destined for me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an aspiring model, promoter, and owner of @ALT.6IX.
I would like to say that I am mostly known for my aesthetics. One of my proudest moments was when I collaborated virtually with a photographer from the United Kingdom and also when I was reposted by Funimation and Vogueeko.
What sets me apart from others is that I’m simply just being me instead of trying to be like the next person. We are all unique so embrace the beauty that lies within you.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Due to the Covid crisis, I learned to develop healthier ways and slightly grew more aware of my surroundings.
Although I am introverted, I caught Covid twice so the lesson I learned was to just stay cautious in different environments and to be as twice as clean as I already am.
