Today we’d like to introduce you to Young Chris The Artist.
Young Chris, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m an on-the-rise artist (YoungChrisTheArtist) from Northeast D.C., I got into music around the age of 8, and my uncle Troy Williams was a huge inspiration to my musical journey being as though he was an engineer & producer he produced for artists like Biggie Smalls, Heavy D, LL Cool J & many more.
He passed in 2015 but that was also my drive to keep going in music as well. Growing up in the northeast wasn’t the hardest but it wasn’t the easiest either. The part of the northeast, I grew up in was rough & drug heavy but I never let my environment distract me from doing what I feel I was destined to do.
I sometimes include my rough neighborhood in my music cause I feel as though I’m still connected there even though I no longer live there. I also feel as though you all should keep an ear out for me. Coming off the release
of my 2nd EP called “Sorry 4 The Hold Up”, I’ve had shows all around the DC area in almost every venue you can think of.
In early 2018, I moved to Florida to chase my dream of music. I was picked up by a label called blue dream music group but everything didn’t work out as it was supposed to. I recently did a show in California & this show was a great example of my ability to capture a crowd’s attention while I’m on stage.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think any road is smooth with any type of career you’re choosing there are always going to be struggling. I’ve had many bumps in the road to my success including the death of 3 uncles & a brother in one year.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m known for my different approaches to music. I do pop & R&B music.
What sets me apart from other artists here in DC is every other artist here does a genre of music called trap music. DC doesn’t have a lot of artists who do pop & R&B
What matters most to you?
Getting ahead in life & family matters the most to me because without family who am I? They’ve supported me through it all. All the ups & downs & without them I feel like I’m nothing
