Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Rachal. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Ryan Rachal is a musician(guitarist, singer, songwriter), Born in Memphis and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, and is now residing in Miami Florida. Grew up listening to everything from the Beatles to the cure, Louis Armstrong, to the Red Hot Chili Peppers- he learned to love all genres, and therefore, has been influenced by all genres. Ryan’s talent has been passed down by his grandfather, who was a touring lap steel guitarist and played with Elvis before Elvis was huge! Over 10 years of playing live music, Ryan is well known locally in Miami.
Starting with a melodic rock band “7 Seas” to the acoustic soul-rock band “The Zippers” and now a solo singer-songwriter, he has played numerous exciting shows from the intimate ‘Sofar Sounds’ music festivals, breweries, wineries, Family restaurants, and animal sanctuaries. He also supports the scene by doing volunteer work and booking local acts. Ryan is the current Airbnb host for local music.
Books travelers looking for local talent for their stay here in Miami! Ryan has grown his songwriting repertoire into an eclectic variety that will hit your senses. Ryan has ‘no limit’ to his writing style. One of his best-performed songs- ‘Home Again’ was the top 3 finalist in the 2014 Guitar Center Songwriting Competition. Recently, Ryan is recording and preparing his debut EP. Want to keep the music in your head for a while? Shared with the Public.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The connections have happened. Booking myself, and along with my agent, I have maintained becoming a resident musician for many locations! Sometimes the other local acts can be competitive instead of having, ‘the shared fate’ mentality. Their fans may only stay for 1 band, instead of supporting others.
Sometimes emails take quite a long to respond to, regarding bookings, although having the reputation of playing various places has gotten me in quicker. Good to know the biz and have good people skills. Sometimes it’s easy to get discouraged when support may be lacking, but the music speaks for itself, and when the crowd comes to you and loves the music, making them feel nostalgia, and goosebumps, you feel quite accomplished. To know your value is strong. The next step is to progress to bigger venues!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I play guitar, and sing, and am also a songwriter. I am known for my unique style of guitar, as I mix many genres in 1 brand. I am proud of all the music I’ve done thus far, and want to keep pushing further. Also proud of all the shows I’ve done this year, and the connections I have made
I think my persistence and work ethic set me apart, along with my strong passion, experience, and life-changing situations- I’ve stayed with this regardless of how challenging it can be, and I’ve put many hours in to fine-tune the craft!
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
The bad luck has been struggling to make connections on my own in the beginning. It was so hard to book a paid gig because I only knew the circuit of non-paid musicians. I practiced getting a set list of 3 hours’ worth of music for a local brewery called, ‘Strange Beast’.
That got me back into the swing of being a consistent working musician. The good luck has been connecting with folks that heard of me from other venues, and contacting me instead of me looking for them! The music speaks for itself
