Daily Inspiration: Meet MacArthur Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to MacArthur Johnson.

Hi MacArthur, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My name is NSA Millie that’s (Never Stop Addin, Never Sleep Again, Never Starve Again)… that name is a penalty/reward for all my endeavors in life… from growing up in poverty to being misunderstood thinking the streets were my way and key to a better life…

Which in return cost me over 10 years inside the government’s warehouse (prison/jail) for me to later understand that what I thought was a shortcut was really the longer and more risky way of life… then me coming home after doing all this time to being shot within less than a year of me being home which was when I had to accept that the streets no longer operate the same… It’s a nun that u can’t be too real for, I honestly thought I was to stand up to ever get shot.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road at all but nevertheless, I continue to move forward. For example, as an artist, many people have a fan base and support that pertains to day one friends or just people the artist has known forever… Well for me that’s an issue because all my friends are either dead or in jail… And the ones that are still hanging on they ain’t keep it real when I was locked up so ion has them people around me tbh.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m proud of me tbh because since I was 13 years old I haven’t been on the streets for 1 full year and this is why my support system is messed up tbh. While In prison most of my friends died or got incarcerated.

And to know that I gotta live for them and they gotta live thru me keeps me grounded. Keeps me from getting into things. Just knowing their situations and the fact they need me.

But I’m definitely proud of myself cause had it been any different I’d be locked up right now but the fact that I’m dream chasing and standing on patience is beautiful had you known who I was vs the person I’m coming to you as now.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
Bad luck well it seems like I can’t win for losing but at the same time when I think about it I am also blessed. The cases I did came from under, to being shot and still being here. My life’s endeavors have definitely messed up my trust but nevertheless, I continue to add on.
