Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenise McBride.
Hi Jenise, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started as a braider working from inside my home as a side hustle. I never really saw myself as a professional. I just thought I had a skill that I could utilize to create income whenever I needed it. I then chopped off my hair after my daughter and went natural because I was going through postpartum hair loss with my edges. After going natural I was trying to figure how I can style my hair with weave with no leave out. I then discovered the world of crochet braids in 2011 but I didn’t like the knots at all! So being who I am which is a relentless tinker lol I set out to discover a way to create a seamless crochet install without knots and to my surprise I actually did. I invented the seamless crochet hairline and then patented the tool and method.
I now have an online platform where I teach others all across the world my certified techniques. We have certified technicians in 5 countries and 6 states and growing. We teach in-person Hands-on classes as well. You can Register for both on our site. I have had the opportunity to work with celebrities such as Mo’nique and Fortune 500 company owners. I never thought that this skill as a braider would take me this far or even be a high-ticket item. But it is and it forever changed my life. My gifts certainly made room for me and I’m grateful to provide others with the same opportunity.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There were a few struggles but nothing that I didn’t know God would get me through. Figuring out the patent and the “how” was work! Creating an educational platform was work. Building a multi-service salon from scratch and hiring talent is work as well. I am also currently looking for a sponsor to help me finance the manufacturing of the tool. Right now we are using the mock up version of the latch hook but I know those things are soon to come.

I specialize in Protective Styles in the Natural Hair Industry. I am an Inventor and have a patent pending for the seamless hairline crochet method and tool. I believe that’s what set me apart from the rest. I teach and certify others in this area of expertise. I also own a multi-service salon with Boutique Braiding Shop, lash tech, and a content creation space for professional photography and videography.
We are currently looking to hire a barber, MUA’s & permanent make-up artist. I also Coach a tribe of amazingly talented women in the industry. As a Coach, a Mom, an entrepreneur, and a woman of many hats. I believe in work-life balance and teach others the same. A lot of times women in this industry neglect their health and miss a lot of time with family but I believe that we can balance our lives and create a healthy schedule that works out for us by a commitment to ourselves and setting healthy boundaries in our personal lives and our business.
