Hidden Gems: Meet Krista Parks of Modern Tribe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krista Parks.

Hi Krista, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been a cheerleader, quite literally. I cheered from third grade to the collegiate level at the University of Memphis. So being a leader, teacher, and coach came naturally to me, and I felt very aligned. I started my professional career working in physical healing after a catastrophic cheer injury left me seeking physical healing. I had a traumatic brain injury and a severe neck injury leaving me with 3 brain surgeries, migraines, memory loss, temporary paralysis, and chronic pain. I went to school for physical therapy and eventually opened my practice incorporating rehab and fitness/wellness training. Having chronic issues took me down the rabbit hole of western medicine and eventually led me away due to the lack of relief and healing I was looking for. I took matters into my own hands, thinking that if I couldn’t truly heal myself, how would I heal my patients?! So I started researching and seeking more holistic treatments. As I dialed in on better care of my physical health, I began to pay more attention and better control my mental, emotional, and spiritual health. As this unfolded, I parted ways from my unhealthy marriage and continued diving deeper into my own mental and emotional healing and well-being. The more I learned, the more I discovered that so much of physical healing are intertwined, so I decided to sell my practice and focus more deeply on the root of healing. With the same frame of reference for ‘helping others, I must first help myself,’ I jumped in! I got several certifications in energy work, life coaching, and trauma work. I now work with clients, mainly women, on their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual healing with these modalities. I am still a cheerleader, teacher, and coach, and my purpose on earth is to empower people to reconnect with their highest selves and true potential.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
HA! what’s a smooth road?! I have had anything but a smooth road and have had obstacles of what seems like every kind thrown my way. These obstacles created the lessons needed to propel me deeper into the healing I sought. Running a business with chronic pain and migraines leaves so much room for errors and roadblocks to success, but it was a massive part of my seeking relief. At the time, I did not value myself enough to find a better way but having so many employees and clients relying on me forced me to do that work. Going through a divorce from an unhealthy marriage while running a business and trying to further my healing was probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. But it taught me that I am stronger than I thought and have more of a support system than I realized. Leaving a successful business and diving into the unknown with no plan, no clients, and no comfort of this being something I was familiar with was the scariest thing I’ve ever done. Still, it taught me to trust myself, my God, and my guidance more deeply than ever. So, no, this has not been a smooth road to get to where I am, but its the road I would choose repeatedly.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Modern Tribe is an overall space of wellness, support, and coaching to empower women to live a more calm, connected, and authentic life. Society doesn’t teach us to connect to the strength that comes from our feminine power and instead leaves us empty, exhausted, disconnected, anxious, and sad. Modern Tribe is an online community, and I work with clients online and in-person, including Reiki, Meditation, Life Coaching, Trauma-Informed Yoga, Healing Retreats, and Holistic Health. My diverse background, numerous certifications, and love of so many healing modalities make my work very customized to each client, and so rewarding to watch the pieces start to come together for so many people who have felt disconnected for so long. Modern Tribe is a space where a woman can learn how to and feel free to be themselves and reconnect to what that means. We are challenging the societal norms of “being a woman” but “acting like a man,” and we’re releasing everything in the way of that reconnection to ourselves. What sets my work apart is that I’m not all love and light like most spiritual communities are. I understand that getting to the light means going deep into the dark, and I have created a safe vessel for others to be able to do just that. I work with other professionals locally and around the country so that my clients have access to precisely what they need. They are currently partnering with a wellness business that will provide concierge service to refer clients to the proper avenues to expedite their healing and save them time and money. I am most proud of my work and the brand I’ve created because it was so much personal growth and work to get here. I am aligned with my passion and my purpose in this life, and I’m proud to bring to help so many others find their path to healing and alignment.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something surprising that most people probably don’t know about me is that I’m an introvert. 🙂 Well, I’m an extroverted-introvert, meaning I can be social and extroverted, which is no surprise because I am loud and high energy most of the time, but I value my alone time and need quite a bit of it to recharge. I have learned to like spending time with myself and can pour into my tribe much better.
