Community Highlights: Meet Kathleen Goldberg of Fiat Physical Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathleen Goldberg.

Hi Kathleen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to introduce yourself.
I have been a physical therapist for 8.5 years – I mainly worked with outpatient orthopedic patients when I first began seeing patients. I developed an interest in pelvic health physical therapy for both men and women in 2015 and decided to pursue this as my specialty. I wanted to create a physical therapy environment that was private and individually focused. I was lucky enough to meet Tracey Morgan with Fermata Massage and Wellness, who openly welcomed me and my vision. I have been working in close association with her and her team for almost a full year now. Here, I can spend more time with patients I work with one-on-one to provide all aspects of physical therapy care. I see patients for pelvic floor therapy as well as for orthopedic problems. I love what I do, and I am very grateful to be able to do it in this capacity!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One meaning of ” fiat ” is “faithful trust and obedience.” This is why I named my business Fiat Physical Therapy – it was terrifying navigating the world of opening my practice. Still, with faithful diligence and wonderful mentors, I have steadily improved in all aspects of my business. I would not call it a struggle to start, but it was a slow process. Most of my struggles and obstacles have centered around understanding certain insurance companies rules and regulations. I have kept my goals centered on providing the best patient care possible, which has driven me to where I am today.

As you know, we’re big fans of Fiat Physical Therapy. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
Fiat Physical Therapy is a physical therapy clinic specializing in orthopedic injuries and pelvic floor rehabilitation. We offer one-on-one treatment sessions that are at least 1-hour in length – this is part of what makes us stand apart from other rehabilitation clinics. With our business model, we can spend more time with patients, which in turn gives our patients more time to ask questions and learn about their healing and rehabilitation process. We offer a wide variety of treatments, including manual therapy, joint mobilizations for the spine and extremities, instrument-assisted soft tissue work (also known as scraping), myofascial cupping, dry needling treatments, corrective exercise instruction, and modalities for pain relief such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, low-level laser therapy, and hot/cold packs. We aim to make you feel better whenever you walk out the door. We also treat various conditions, including headaches, back pain, general joint pain, myofascial pain related to muscular trigger points, and pelvic floor dysfunction. You can see us after surgery and even visit us if you have issues such as vertigo! I want people to know that the resources are there to help you live your best life and become the best version of yourself – and Fiat Physical Therapy wants to help you get there!

What makes you happy?
Professionally, seeing people achieve their goals makes me extremely happy – and really, seeing them understand that their goals are achievable! Spending quality time with my family and friends brings me the most happiness, which is why I chose a profession where I get to spend quality time with people, too! To get to play a small part in seeing someone’s confidence return after an injury is rewarding.
