Meet Charlie Carlisle of Nine Realms Gaming

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlie Carlisle.

Hi Charlie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Our story started in the winter of 2017 when one of our friends introduced us to D&D. We were all a little skeptical of playing D&D for the first time. However, it only took one session to get us hooked! From there, we started ordering different items to help elevate our gaming experience each weekend we would play. After seeing some of the available options for rolling trays, dice vaults, etc., we had a small discussion about making something ourselves. That is how we started making our first iterations of Nine Realms Gaming accessories. From there, we just improved a little while making new items and refining our processes. It was a long, difficult road to get where we are now but looking back on it; it was 100% worth it!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
Not at all, lol. We had some hard lessons regarding how some of our materials would react in different weather conditions, supply chain woes, and communication issues with potential partners. Each problem we encountered helped us grow as woodworkers and entrepreneurs, though sometimes those lessons proved pricey.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Nine Realms Gaming is constantly exploring new products to bring to our loyal customers. Our company makes tabletop gaming accessories ranging from rolling trays, dice towers, and dice/hero vaults. Our other products include Dungeon Master Screens, t-shirts, and commissions for specialized custom gaming accessories. We also partnered with Skullsplitter Dice and Misty Mountain Gaming to sell some of their most beautiful acrylic, metal, and gemstone dice. Each of our products is handmade from a wide selection of domestic and exotic lumber worldwide. We aim to put the highest quality of work into each product and commission we send.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Charlie- “I would have to say taking a tour through an aircraft carrier and being able to launch random items off of it like watermelons and a giant sled.”

Zach- “Mine would be when I was in high school; some friends and I participated in a national rocketry competition in Virginia. Our group placed 19th in the country for our rocket’s design and performance. Afterward, the top 20 received a grant from NASA to build another rocket that had to travel at least a mile while performing a science experiment. It was an amazing time! The whole experience was one of my most memorable times from high school.”

Adam- “As the resident vampire, I have been around for a long time and have many memories from my childhood. My favorite one would have to be when I was gifted my first coffin in 1840. It was beautifully made of the darkest ebony wood and the softest velvet. I enjoyed that coffin for 40 years before unfortunately outgrew it.”
