I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
With being a grassroots organization, we have to host fundraisers and also work with donors to fund our programs.
As stated, our mission is to implement economic and educational programs for underserved youth and their families in Shelby County. This year, we have built partnerships with 2 Shelby County Schools to provide resources and host our programs. We supplied 350 students (Every student) with a backpack of supplies. We also provided 50 coats to the elementary school. And hosted financial literacy, peer building, hygiene classes, and more.
The road can sometimes be bumpy due to funding. But God always makes a way!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Operation Taking Back 901?
Operation Taking Back 901 is a nonprofit 501c3 organization whose mission is to implement economic and educational programs for underserved youth and their families in Shelby County. Operation Taking Back 901 is broken down into two components, which are Career Ready and Road to Greatness. All will include promoting and providing broad opportunities that will enhance Community Development, Business Workforce Development Training, Economic Development, Mental Health, Education , and Social Services.
Our organization was founded in July 2016. We have served our community by showing our purpose to be impactful.
We have received recognition from the “State Of Tennessee” for our services. And built many relationships with the City of Memphis & Shelby County.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
My advice for business owners, get with like-minded people. Don’t compare yourself right now to others. With every new level reveals a new devil. But most importantly, “No weapon formed against you, shall prosper!!” Stick with YOUR niche. And don’t worry about anything else outside of your purpose!
