Miyana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was inspired during the global pandemic and was able to take a pause to reflect and reorganize my life goals. Aside from my personal struggles I was able to look at things from a world perspective.
One of the most valuable lessons I learned during my downtime was that nothing in this world stops – until it stops. We experienced shortages in every avenue – finances, water, shelter, and food. I thought to myself what keeps many of life’s valuables going? Transportation! That marked the beginning of Yise Logistics LLC.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Sure…. It’s been as smooth as the highway roads. I’m joking for those with a light sense of humor. I’ve faced adversity from early on in my career. Taking notice that the stakes were high and odds stacked against me by being young, an African American, and a female might I add in a male-dominated industry.
I believe it’s safe to say fear got the best of me. However, I referred to one of my favorite quotes stating, “If you continue to wait for the right moment, you’ll spend a lifetime never doing it” I mustered up the courage to write the vision and make it plain, and from there on there was no looking back.
