Meet Jasmine Joyner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Joyner.

Hi Jasmine, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m originally from Memphis, Tennessee, and lived there until I was 21. I’ve resided in Atlanta, Georgia ever since.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Struggles I’ve experienced include multiple job losses, anxiety, depression, and lack of confidence.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a bookstagrammer and Booktoker. I’ve been on Bookstagram for three years and Tiktok for almost two. As an avid reader, I wanted a place where I could share my love of books.

Where I could gush about authors whose unforgettable words have touched me on a soul-deep level. I also love being able to dispel the stigma that black girls don’t read because I’ve unfortunately had to witness this type of discourse online. Since creating these two bookish accounts, I have met so many amazing people and formed lifelong bonds that go way beyond the books.

I’m also proud of myself for finally getting an offer for my dream job and starting flight attendant training in March!

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and are any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The Covid-19 crisis definitely tested us all, I think it definitely taught me extra patience, extra compassion, and resilience.
