Today we’d like to introduce you to Shalyn Webb.
Shalyn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started Her Chamber Company at the end of 2019 right before COVID. I was laid off from my job, at that point I was just tired of depending on companies. I always told myself I will be an entrepreneur, but never knew what exactly I’ll be doing. So, I decided to start my own boutique. My boutique was doing well, but I wasn’t 100% happy with it. I just felt it wasn’t what I was meant to do. At times it was very stressful, overwhelming, and expensive. So, I decided to take a break.
Moving forward to 2022, I made a drastic change completely. In 2020 and 2021, I dedicated my time to researching and studying the use of herbs. I was diagnosed with endometriosis at 19, and it caused my menstrual cycles to be extremely painful. I would go to the doctor, but they were no help. The medicines I was prescribed didn’t help me at all. After all the long late nights researching, I decided to heal myself with herbs such as chaste berry, raspberry leaf, clove, etc. As clove helps with cramps, Chasteberry shortens cycles, and raspberry leaf improves hormone balance.
I have formulated ingredients to perfection for making my own herbal teas, feminine wash, and feminine soap. My cycle has been so much better and painless with the use of the products that I created. After seeing that my products actually worked for me, I asked my family and friends to try them out as well. They absolutely love them! I then instantly launched the products in Her Chamber Co for other women to get a chance to use the products as a part of their feminine care routine.
Her Chamber Co feminine care line has done so well that Walmart reached out to me. I’ve only had my feminine care line for a few months, and to already partner with a multi-billionaire company is amazing. I am so grateful to accomplish that within so little time, when in other businesses it may take years. I’m looking forward to partnering with other corporations like Target soon. My mission is to expand and grow Her Chamber Co.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Running a business is never smooth. There’s going to be a rocky road at times. I must say Her Chamber Co is doing phenomenal, especially now with partnering with Walmart which is huge. To answer the question, yea it is rocky. I have moments I just want to give up and quit. Then, I think about my family who motivates me so much. I just want them to see me succeed.
I have self-doubt and sometimes lose confidence when business is going slow. There are days when sales are exceeding and days when they are not. That’s just a part of running a company. Every business has its good days and bad days too. As long as I stay consistent and continue to perfect Her Chamber Co, things will continue to flourish for me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have over 10 years of customer service experience which has prepared me for my journey in being an entrepreneur. I’ve worked from in-store retail to call centers and was promoted to management roles in a short period of time. I enjoy speaking with customers and solving their issues that’s pretty much what my current job entails.
I went to college to study accounting but didn’t finish. My mom always has been my role model and she’s in the finance field. I have always looked up to her and I am looking forward to finishing my degree in the future. Aside from work and Her Chamber Co, I also help other business owners build their brands as well. I create websites, logos, and e-flyers, and provide ideas to improve their marketing.
I have an eye for creativity and I utilized those skills into helping other entrepreneurs bring their vision to life. I have always been bossy and a leader. So, it makes sense I am running my own company. I have always had an entrepreneurial mindset since I was a child. I am just proud of myself that I was able to bring it to fruition.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Yes, I enjoy reading books about health and herbal care. My favorite book is African Holistic Health by Laila Afrika. It provides very knowledgeable information about herbs and their benefits of them for your body. It is a good read.
